Good season for Panther golfers
EXETER - The South Huron District High school golf
teams had a successful end to their season last
Thursday in Union.
The season started in early September when approxi-
mately 40 golfers brought out their best games to
attempt to make either the boys' or girls' tournament
teams.
In the girls' division,Leanne Cronyn led the scoring
with a 99, while Michelle Muller (103), Tristen Caldwell
(105) and Jessica Bickell (108) followed closely behind.
In the boys' division, Scott Muirhead led the way with
a 73, while David Muller and Steve Osgood shot each
76's.
Filling out the team was Blair Parsons who carded a
78.
On Sept. 28, both teams headed to Sunset Golf Course
in Goderich for the Huron -Perth Tournament.
In the girls' division, Muller and Caldwell both posted
scores in the middle of the pack which was led by two
girls who carded scores of 76.
In the boys' division two golfers tied for tournament
leading 71 while Muller led the South Huron team
with a round of 76.
Following Muller were Muirhead, Osgood and
Parsons.
The South Huron team's aggregate score of 243 was
three strokes higher than the fifth place team, which
meant the Boys' team failed to qualify for WOSSAA.
Muller though did qualify for WOSSAA as an individ-
ual.
Last Thursday, he attended the WOSSAA tournament
at the stately St.Thomas Golf and Country Club.
Muller golfed well and ended up in the top 25 per
cent of the tournament, won by a golfer with an
impressive score of 70 on the tough layout.
Congratulations to all team members on a great sea-
son.
Coach Jeff O'Brien said they performed like true
ladies and gentlemen both off and on the course.
