The annual fall plant
auction of the Hensall
and Community
Horticultural Society
was held on Friday
September 30 at
Hensall United Church.
Pirie Mitchell our auc-
tioneer and Erik
Jacobsen of Parkway
Gardens arrived on the
dot of seven and the
auction began. The
members had been gen-
erous with their plant
donations, which Pirie
sold first. Erik brought
a quantity of plants and
shrubs, some were new
plants this season, oth-
ers were old favorites.
Erik had chosen well as
the bidding was keen
and the
end result
rewarding
to all. The usual good
fellowship was evident
throughout the evening.
Liz Sangster helped
Pirie while Luanne and
Pam looked after the
accounting. Erik had
an assistant from his
business with him to
attend his sales. Door
prizes were won by
Marg Hayter, Bill
Gibson, Marion
Kerslake, and by our
British guest. Betty
Simmons was the coffee
maker with Lillian Beer
serving the torte from
Metzgers. We were
happy to have one gar-
den host with us. We
hope to have an
October meeting, watch
the Hensall News for
time and date.
