assaulted
HURON PARK — On
Sept. 26 an officer was
assaulted after making a
traffic stop in Huron Park.
The officer observed a
1992 Pontiac being driven
by a male that the officer
had recently been in con-
tact with. The male was
driving with an improper
license. The officer fol-
lowed the vehicle to a resi-
dence in Huron Park
where the driver was con-
fronted. The 18 -year-old
male from South Huron
was found only with a G1
license. The officer was
dealing with this young
man when the father of
the youth exited his house
and approached the offi-
cer. The male was yelling,
using obscenities and
being very argumentative
over the issue. A struggle
ensued between the officer
and the boy's father.
During the struggle the
officer's finger was bro-
ken. The man then ran
inside the house, locking
the door. Another officer
arrived and through some
communication, the father
left his house and turned
himself over to the attend-
ing officer. A 40 -year-old
man of South Huron has
been charged with
assaulting an officer. He
will attend court in Exeter
on Nov. 24. The 18 -year-
old male is charged with a
traffic offense of G1
license holder unaccompa-
nied by a qualified driver.
The owner of the vehicle is
also charged. A 20 -year-
old female from South
Huron is charged with an
adult permit person with
an improper license to
drive a motored vehicle.
