Jets ready to open season
by Pat Bolen
TIMES -ADVOCATE STAFF
LUCAN — The
Lucan Ilderton Jets
will start their second
season Oct. 8 at 8:30
p.m. against the visit-
ing Shelburne
Muskies.
Although they were
last year's senior 'A'
champions, the Jets
will be looking to
improve even more
this year.
General manager
Rob Andrews said
the team has several
new faces in the line-
up, but will have a
tough schedule to
start the season and
doesn't expect the
Jets will get off to the
same fast start they
did last year.
Andrews said with
the team having been
practicing for the
past five weeks, the
players are ready to
start the season.
Joining the team
are four new players,
including Mike Robb,
Mark Reid, John
Soleto and Mark
SHMHA
goalie school
EXETER — Goalies looking to
sharpen their skills will be able
to do so for the next eight
weeks at a Goalie School being
held in South Huron.
The school starts Oct. 16 and
runs Sundays at 9 a.m.
Cost of the school is $40 for
South Huron Minor Hockey
Association players and $50
for players who don't belong to
the SHMHA. For more informa-
tion contact Phil Potter at 235-
4739.
Landon, who won the
Junior 'D' scoring
title last season.
Andrews said while
Landon isn't very big,
"he is flashy."
Landon will be
needed for offence to
make up the loss of
Sean Fairweather.
With the
Thanksgiving week-
end, Andrews said
the Jets would be
short some players,
"but we'll do the best
we can with what we
have. It's a long sea-
son."
Andrews said he
likes the way the
team looks, and Todd
Hunt is healthy again,
although he won't be
in the lineup this
weekend.
Between the pipes
for the Jets will again
be Dave Riddell and
Marc Williams
"We feel we have a
good mix of guys,
with the guys that
come in and the guys
we have," said
Andrews.
