Seniors' Perspective

Happiness is like a potato salad; share it with others
and you can have a picnic.
Houses had thatched roofs -thick straw -piled high, with
no wood underneath. It was the only place for animals to
get warm, so all the dogs, cats and other small animals
(mice, bugs) lived in the roof When it rained it became
slippery and sometimes the animals would slip and fall
off the roof
Hence the saying "It's raining cats and dogs.

PROBUS:
PROBUS! Clubs for Retired Professional & Business
Persons, Former Executives and others and the develop-
ment of PROBUS is one of the many community service
activities of ROTARY Clubs.
PROBUS is the association of retired and semi -retired
persons who join together in autonomous Clubs through-
out the world. The word PROBUS is an abbreviation of
the words PROfessional BUSiness, but membership is not
restricted to these two groups. It embraces also former
executives of government and other organizations and,
in fact, anyone who has had some measure of responsi-
bility in any field of endeavour.
The basic purpose of a PROBUS CLUB is to provide
regular gatherings to those who, in retirement, apprecia-
tion and value opportunities to meet others in similar cir-
cumstances and of a similar level of interest. The empha-
sis is that the Clubs:
• Be simple in structure
• Be free from the constraints and obligations of ser-
vice clubs
• Be directed primarily to providing fellowship and the
opportunity for development of acquaintance.
• Seek members who are compatible with one anoth-
er.
For more information on PROBUS, or if retired or
semi -retired professionals would like to start a PROBUS
group in Exeter & area please contact Mr. Bill Metcalfe,
Grand Bend ON Phone (519) 238-5987 or
