It wasn't Hurricane Katrina or Rita but it felt close for Betty Grenier of Hensall Sept. 28 as winds of up to
100 km/h whipped through Southwestern Ontario around 2:30 a.m. 93 Richmond Street North took the
brunt of the damage in Hensall, with a tree knocked down in the back yard of her daughter and son-in-law
Joanne and Joe Bengough flattening a playhouse in the backyard of the residence. (photos/Pat Bolen)

leaving
Exeter

EXETER — Exeter is losing one of its family doctors.
Dr. Philip Chan sent a letter out to his patients last
week officially announcing he will end his Exeter prac-
tice effective Oct. 31.
Chan is moving to Vancouver for family reasons. He
said he'll do some locum work there and eventually start
his own family practice.
Chan, who is also chief of emergency for South Huron
Hospital, has had his practice in Exeter for four years.
Chan has nothing but positive things to say about the
community and local health care.
"Exeter's been a wonderful community," he said.
"The support staff are excellent, wonderful people .. .
It's hard for me to leave, but because of family reasons I
unfortunately have to move on. I don't think I'll be able
to find a better group of people when I move out there."
Chan said he'll also be sad to leave his patients, adding
he has considered it a privilege to treat and get to know
them.
