Total receipts 3,376 head of cattle, 489 lambs and goats. Summary Tuesday: The fed steers and heifers sold on a strong active trade with prices $1 to $2 higher. Choice steers and heifers sold 91 to 97, sales to 106.25, second- cut steers and heifers sold 88 to 90. The cows traded on a fully steady market. Thursday: The veal sold actively on a strong demand with prices up $5 to $10 from last week. The lambs also traded on a strong active trade with prices $10 higher. Friday: All weights and classes of stockers sold on a strong active trade. Steers There were 534 steers on offer. Sidney M. Martin, Linwood consigned two limo steers averaging 1375 lbs which sold for 106.25. His overall offering of 17 steers averaged 1394 lbs sell- ing for an average price of 96.82. K. C. McAlpine Farms, Ailsa Craig consigned one limo steer weighing 1250 lbs which sold for 106. Their overall offering of seven steers averaged 1326 lbs selling for an average price of 99.30. Eight steers consigned by Charles Downey, Seaforth averaged 1136 lbs which sold for an aver- age price of 97.68 with his top three blonde steers averaging 1083 lbs selling to Dominion Meat Packers for 102.50. Heifers There were 291 heifers on offer. Merkley Farms, Wroxeter consigned six limo heifers averaging 1135 lbs which sold for an aver- age price of 95.97 with sales to 97.75. Two gold heifers consigned by Andy VanderVeen, Blyth averaged 1193 lbs selling to Highland Packers Ltd. for 97.25. His overall offering of five heifers averaged 1210 lbs selling for an average price of 94.52. Two heifers consigned by John Wiersma, Blyth averaged 1218 lbs selling for an average price of 95.12 with his top white heifer weighing 1110 lbs selling to Dominion Meat Packers for 95.25. Cows There were 174 cows on offer. D1 and D2: 35-45 sales to 48; D3: 30-35; D4: 15-25. Chauncey Corley, Englehart consigned two limo cows averaging 1605 lbs which sold to Levinoff Meat Packers for 48. Riverlodge Farms, Teeswater consigned one gold cow weighing 1505 lbs which sold for 47.50. MBRHEO Cattle Co., Clifford consigned one gold cow weighing 1875 113S which sold for 47.50. Bulls There were 41 bulls on offer selling 29.50 to 70.50 sales to 77.75. Jim Waddell, Staffa consigned one hol bull weigh- ing 1150 lbs which sold for 70.50. One black bull consigned by Rick McPherson, Wingham weighed 1865 lbs selling for 50.50. Veal There were 136 head of veal on offer. Beef: 100- 110 sales to 123; Good Holstein: 100-110 with sales to 116.50; Medium Holstein: 85 to 90; Plain and heavy Holstein Heavy: 80-100, Plain: 65-75. Bert Renkema, Londesborough consigned on char veal steer weighing 675 lbs which sold to Holly Park Meat Packers for 123. One gold veal steer consigned by John J. Shetler, Auburn weighed 640 lbs selling for 119.50. Leo Greidanus, Brucefield consigned one hol veal steer weighing 765 lbs which sold for 116.50. Lambs under 50 lbs: 130-165; 50-65 lbs: 163-171; 65-80 lbs: 160-168; 80-95 lbs: 154-165; 95-110 lbs: 153- 158; 110 lbs and over: 139. TIMES ADVOCATE Exeter Fall Fair ambassadors Vicki Hartman Shoppers Drug Mart Vicki Hartman, 17, of Exeter is a Grade 12 stu- dent at South Huron District High School and works at Dairy Queen and M&M Meat Shops. After high school,Vicki would like to pursue a degree to work with children, either with sick children in a hospital or as an elementary school teacher or child psychol- ogist. Amy Jennison Jennison Construction Seventeen -year-old Amy Jennison of Grand Bend is a Grade 12 student at South Huron District High School and hopes to attend the University of Western Ontario to achieve a master's degree in Library Sciences.When not in school,Amy enjoys rollerblading, biking, boat- ing and water skiing. She works at the Pizza Delight in Grand Bend and the Grand Bend Public Library.Amy's par- ents are Gary and Beth Jennison.Amy is spon- sored by Jennison Construction. 4-H Club at Kirkton Fair By Christine O'Reilly EXETER — The Exeter 4-H Beef Club met at Carrie and Morgan Powe's. After being introduced to their calves, Oreo and Strawberry, the club went back inside to write the 4-H quiz. Working together and using the 4-H newsletters avail- able, members managed to fill in almost all of the answers. They discussed details of the Achievement Day at Exeter Fall Fair, and things to remember when showing. Those who showed their calves in the Kirkton Fall Fair shared their experiences with the group. A big thank you goes out to the Powes for holding the meet- ing, and for providing refreshments afterwards. Sows and boars sell steady in Denfield DENFIELD — The mar- ket at Denfield traded steady on all classes with fancy cattle bringing a premium. Cows sold strong, Holstein bull calves higher, sows and boars steady. Jason Hodgins, Denfield sold two steers average weight 1430, average price 91.88. Morley Hodgins, Parkhill sold 10 steers, average weight 14 -- average price 90.30, sales to 102.25 for a Limo purchased by Norval Meats. Wayne Mellin, Parkhill sold 13 steers average weight 13-- average price 91.46. Bob Hodgins, Lucan sold nine steers average weight 1441, average price 101.17, sales to 104.25. Choice steers: 95-100 sales to 104.25; Good steers: 87.92; Common: 82-87; Choice heifers: 92-97; Good heifers: 85- 90; Common: 80-85; Good cows: 40-45, sales to 52; Med. cows: 30-40; Shells: 10-25; Bulls: 35- 45; Good Holstein bull calves: 180-220; Med.: 75; Sows: 44-46; Boars: 20-22. AIIy Macgregor Exeter Golf Club Exeter's AIIy Macgregor is a Grade 12 student at South Huron District High School.The 17 year old's hobbies include act- ing, writing, music, run- ning, swimming, photog- raphy and films.Ally, who works at the Exeter Golf Club, hopes to pursue a career as an actress or writer.
