Weddings and engagements celebrated in Zurich

ZURICH — A beautiful
wedding of Renee
Sweeney and Alex
Letchford was held
Friday, Sept. 16 in London
at St. Peter's Cathedral
Basilica with all their fam-
ilies attending and many
friends.
Readings and music
were done by family
members. A lovely recep-
tion with delicious dinner
was held at the Bellamere
Winery at Hyde Park.
The bride is the daugh-
ter of Jerome and Carmel
Sweeney of Zurich.
After a two-week honey-
moon in Spain the happy
couple will live in London.
A Garden Party was held
after the wedding
rehearsal Sept. 15 at the
home of Natalie Pittan and
her parents in London, for
Renee and Alex.
Congratulations to Mary -
Ann Regier and Michael
Murray who were mar-
ried at St. Boniface
Church on Saturday, Sept.
17. Dinner and reception
were held at the Grand
Bend Legion.
Mary Ann is the daugh-
ter of Clarence (Charlie)
and Joan Regier of RR 3,
Zurich.
Congratulations to
Jocelyn Cressman and Jeff
Steckle who were married
on Friday, Sept. 16 with
ceremony, dinner and
reception held at the
Hessenland Country Inn
The bride is the daugh-
ter of Dale and Carol
Cressman of RR 2, Zurich.
The groom is the son of
Ken and Virginia Steckle
of the Bayfield area.
Bill and Maddy Smith of
Zurich along with their
daughter Diane and John
Wilds of Exeter have
recently returned home
from a lovely three week
vacation travelling
through the Canadian
Provinces to Red Deer
Alberta where they visited
with son and brother
Larry and Karen Smith
and girls.
They also visited with
Doug Corriveau and
Wayne and Jodi Schilbe in
Calgary.
They then continued
through the United States
stopping at many attrac-
tions along the way.
Happy 90th Birthday
wishes go out to Verona
Asmus on Sept. 9, who
lives at the Maple Woods
Apartments.

Oct. 2, from 2 - 3 p.m. in

It is a peaceful family
event to protest against
abortion by holding up a
sign.

spent the weekend with
her sister, Carmel and
Jerome Sweeney.
Carol attended the wed-
ding of her niece Renee
and Alex in London.
On Sunday at the home
of Beth and Joe Boyle of
Grand Bend a family
birthday party and dinner
was held.

having an information
afternoon on Thursday,
Sept 22 at 2 p.m. in the

Hensall is Wednesday,
Sept. 28, 9:15 a.m. from
Maple Woods Apartments

corner in Zurich.
A Foot Care Clinic will
be held on Monday, Oct. 3
at Maple Woods
Apartments in the
Common Room from 8:30
a.m. to noon at a cost of
$13 a person, no appoint-
ment is necessary. Bring a
towel.
The next planning meet-
ing for Zurich's 150
Anniversary will be held
on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at
7:30 p. m. at St. Peter's
Lutheran Church Hall.

The Mennonite Church
Girls Club will begin for
the fall on Thursday, Sept.
22 from 7 p.m. to 8:30
p.m. every week. All girls
from the area ages 8 - 12
years are welcome to

The VON Palliative Care
Volunteer Program will be
having a Bereavement
support group workshop
for eight weeks starting
Oct. 19 to Dec. 7/05. It will
be held at the Blue Water
Rest Home each night
from 7 - 9 p.m. To register

The Senior's Exercise
program sponsored by
Town and Country Service
will begin Wednesday,
Sept. 21 from 10:30 to
11:30 a.m. at the Blue
Water Complex. It will
continue until Dec. 14/05
at a cost of $3. per class or
$26 for the 13 weeks. Men
and women are most wel-
come to take part. If you
would like to stay for
lunch call ahead by

The Seaforth Harmony
Kings Barbershop will be
among those singing at a
benefit Variety Show at
the Seaforth Public School
on Saturday, Oct. 1 at 8
p.m. to raise money for
the Seaforth Hospital.

Bend. Adults are $12; chil-
dren 12 years and under

A family get together
and picnic supper of Ken's
five brothers and families
was held at the home of
Ken and Arlene Seyler on
Sept. 5 with relatives com-
ing from Burlington, New
Hamburg, Tavistock and
Bayfield.
The Golden Agers held
their first meeting for the
fall on Monday, Sept. 12 at
the Township of Hay Hall
with a good attendance. It
began with a pot luck sup-
per. President is Lottie
Grenier.
Congratulations to Dana
Thiel and Aran Beattie
who were engaged on
Sept. 2. Dana is the
daughter of Ken and
Donna Thiel of Zurich and
Aran is the son of Al and
Heather of Exeter.
The Zurich Public School
held their council meeting
on Sept. 20. An Open
House with pizza supper,
will be held on Sept. 26
from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. for
the students and their
families.
Students of St. Boniface
School are having a com-
munity parade through
the village of Zurich on
Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 1
p.m. Parents are invited to
come for the walk also
and invite a friend.
A multi -denominational
Women's Ministry for
women of all ages and
from all walks of life is
being held at Zurich
Mennonite Church this
fall.
There will be several
faith studies to choose
from: Captivating,
Battlefield of the Mind, To
Love, Honour and
Vacuum, Soul Feast and
the Power of a Praying
Wife. The electives this
time around include
Christmas jewellery, deco-
rative stones, make your
own PJ's and guest speak-
ers on various topics. such
as decluttering your
home, meal planning, etc.
The program runs every
Tuesday morning in
October and November
from 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon.
