PEE WEE OBA CHAMPIONS
Pee Wees win Ontario
Baseball Championship
COURTRIGHT — The Exeter pee-
wees are Ontario Champions after
winning the tournament held in
Courtright Labour Day weekend.
The peewee's played their first
game against Wyoming.
Steve Morgan pitched three com-
plete innings striking out six and
allowing four runs, as the game was
tied at four after three innings.
Scott Overholt came in to pitch the
final four innings, striking out 10
batters and allowing only two runs.
Exeter bats came alive recording
seven runs to win the game 11-6.
Game highlights were a great hit
by Dylan Bedard for a three -run -
triple to break the game open.
There was also good head's up
fielding by Ben Case and Jesse
Blane.
Saturday morning the boys went
against a tough Harrow team,
falling behind 5-2 after four innings.
At the top of the fifth Mitchell
Foxton and Garrett Alexander had
timely hits to break the game wide
open with seven runs scored.
Harrow never scored another run.
The final score was 15-5 for
Exeter with great pitching by their
two lefties, Hayden Cann and
Christopher Pfaff.
The Saturday afternoon game saw
Exeter playing home town
Courtright.
This game was Exeter's closest yet
with them coming out on top 5-1.
Exeter once again had great pitch-
ing again by Overholt, Pfaff and
Steve Morgan, recording a total of
eight strikeouts through seven
innings.
By winning all their game
Saturday, Exeter got a bye into the
final game on Sunday.
Once again they saw themselves
facing the host centre
Courtright,who were there to give
Exeter a run for their money.
After three innings the score was
tied at three.
But in the top of the fourth Exeter
was able to score two runs only to
have Courtright come back and
score one run to keep the game
close.
This was one of the
closest games Exeter
was involved in all year.
The bases were loaded on two dif-
ferent occasions against them and
the boys were able to get them-
selves out of it.
Tyler Bryson's solo homerun over
the right field fence in the sixth
inning gave Exeter a two -run lead
and Cole Hackett turning a double
play in the seven helped to guaran-
tee the 6-4 win.
Coaches Jeff Pfaff, Craig
Alexander, Brad Cann and Scot
Morgan say thanks to all the boys
for a great season and to all the
fans for their support and encour-
agement throughout the year.
See you all next year on the dia-
mond.
