This was the 44th year for the show and some of Queensways mens group had been involved with the show in years past so it was especially nice for them to have the opportunity to reconnect with old friends. A picnic lunch followed by Threshing demonstrations, Border Collie demonstrations, numerous antique dis- plays, craft displays and of course wonderful old tyme music made for a very enjoyable day. Thanks go to auxiliary volunteers Edna Deitz and Lillian Beer who assisted program staff on the outing. Volunteer auxiliary members met Tuesday morning and items on the agenda were the upcoming Alzheimer coffee break day, Wed., Sept. 21, family thanksgiving Kinsmen Club of Hensall donates By Liz Sangster HENSALL CORRESPONDI,NT HENSALL — Morning worship at Hensall United Church began with an organ prelude, welcome and announcements. The passing of the peace was fol- lowed by the call to worship. The Christ candle was lit by Lucielle Beer. Beer also was the reader. Agnes Bray played the organ with Dorothy Corbett welcoming everyone. Beer and Kay Mock looked after the ushering duties. Irene Richardson was the guest minister. Her ser- mon was "Be Still and Know." The epistle reading was from Romans. The gospel reading was from Matthew. Flowers in the sanctuary were from the family of the late Robert Rowcliffe. The sympathy of the com- munity is extended to the Rowciffe family. At Carmel Presbyterian Church, Tracy Whitson- Bahro was the minister with Joyce Pepper playing the organ. Whitson-Bahro's sermon was "The Bells of Forgiveness." The offering was received by Harry Smith. The service ended with benediction and choral amen. Kinsmen Club The Kinsmen Club of Hensall has donated $2600 towards the upgrade of the sound system in the Hensall Arena and its two auditoriums. Bill Dowson, Rod Parker, and Tom Dickens accept- ed the cheque on behalf of the Municipality of Bluewater from the President of the Kinsmen Club, Wayne Reid. The Kinsmen Club of Hensall held their first regu- lar meeting of the 2005/2006 season with newly - elected president Justin Merner in the chair. After a lively discussion about this year's events, service projects, and money -raising projects, a list of donation requests was introduced to the club by Secretary Luke Baehnisch. The Kinsmen Club decided to donate $50 to the Alzheimer Society, the Canadian Red Cross, the Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus Association of Ontario, the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, the Lung Association, the Canadian Mental Health Association, the Arthritis Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, and the Canadian Hearing Society. dinners Oct., 2, and craft & bake sale Fri., Oct. 14. We will welcome donations of crafts or baking for the sale and it will also be a great opportunity for you to do some Christmas shopping. The Hensall Presbyterian women are providing assis- tance and prizes for bingo games each Monday in September. These wonderful women sponsor the bingo's for the months of April & September. Pat Dobbs of Trivitt Memorial Anglican Church in Exeter led Worship Tuesday afternoon with Belva Fuss as volunteer pianist & volunteer Marg Cole organized several tables of Euchre on Wednesday. The afternoon certainly passes quickly for residents when they are focused on the Euchre competition. Residents also benefited from Music Therapy with Young people return to classes By Hazel Davis SAINTSBURY CORRESPONDENT SAINTSBURY — The young people in the community are all back in school. Ron and Margaret Carroll are especially proud as their eldest grandson Matthew Iredale who has enrolled at Fleming College in Peterborough, our best wishes Matthew. Recently the Carroll's were dinner guests with the Iredale's to celebrate grandson Mitchell Iredale's 17th birthday. Happy birth- day Mitchell from all your friends and rela- tives here at St. Patrick's. Suzanne Davis enjoyed breakfast with friends Leona Fenton and Helen Koricina recently and was guest of Ambrose and Helen at their home on Saturday evening along with neighbour Jean Downie. Caleb and Corbin MacGillivray were guests on Saturday evening at The John Labett Centre where they enjoyed the music of Alexis On Fire and The Used. Enjoying gift tickets from their friend Lucan Durnin of Dungannon. Heather MacGillivray and Linda Durnin enjoyed a movie and dinner out. NOTICE OF INTENTION TO CLOSE HIGHWAY The Council of the Corporation of the Township of Lucan Biddulph has determined that Adare Drive between Roman Line and Saintsbury Line legally described as part of the road allowance between Lots 10 and 11, Concessions 5 and 6, in the Township of Lucan Biddulph, now designated as PARTS 1, 2, 3 and 4 on Reference Plan 33R- 16197 is a redundant highway and it would be proper to close the said highway pursuant to the authority of Section 34 of The Municipal Act. Council intends to pass a Bylaw closing Adare Drive at its meeting on Monday September 19, 2005 after providing notice of the intended road closing for a period of four consecutive weeks in the local newspaper.
