Greenhouse offering planting workshop Sat., Sept. 10
By Carmel Sweeney
ZURICH CORRESPONDENT
ZURICH — It is hard to believe that the Labour
Day Weekend is here already. This means our sum-
mer is over and everything gets back to normal
again with children in school, bowling and club
meetings start up again in September.
This was also our last long holiday weekend for a
while. Baseball season is winding down
and won't be long before hockey starts.
I 50th anniversary
The planning meeting for the upcoming 150th
anniversary of Zurich next year was held at St.
Peter's Lutheran Church Hall last Wednesday
evening with representatives from various church
groups and organizations in town. Joyce McBeath
chaired the meeting with 13 people attending.
Plans are well underway for this big event with
various things going on through January 2006 to
December 2006, starting with a levee on New Year's
Day at the Complex. The homecoming weekend will
be held from June 16 to 18, 2006. The next 150
anniversary planning meeting will be Tues., Sept. 27
at 7:30 p.m. Newcomers are welcome.
Chuck and Tanya Erb enjoyed spending last week
at a cottage in Huntsville. Their daughter Jodi and
husband Mark from Parkside subdivision also spent
a few days with them.
I enjoyed celebrating my 61st birthday on Aug. 30
with my family. We went to London on Tuesday.
Thursday we all got together for supper at the
Growling Gator in Grand Bend.
Happy birthday wishes to Ruth Ann Flaxbard of
London on Sept. 4 and to Cheryl Gelinas on Sept. 6.
Happy anniversary wishes to Martin and Cheryl
Gelinas on Sept. 5. An outdoor get-together was
held at the home of Kevin and Shelley Geoffrey on
the Sunday after Bean Festival.

Welcome to town Ron McAra and Robin Smith
from Toronto. They live in the corner house on main
street near the post office. Ron has been doing a lot
of work on the house both inside and out. It sure
looks nice. A big improvement and asset to our vil-
lage.

Variety Store in Zurich who have been here for 15
years. Due to health reasons they are retiring and

Kitchen. He has worked there for the past 11 years
and is making a change in his life to spend more
time with his family and will be working for

by the customers and staff at the restaurant.
