The Varna United
Church women and
friends met at the Blyth
United Church for a deli-
cious roast beef supper
with all the trimmings on
Aug. 25. Deb Rathwell
welcomed everyone and
gave the blessing. It was
nice to see Doris Wilson
and also Margaret
Hayter's daughter Darlene
who was with them.
Rathwell reminded
everyone that last year at
that same time the United
Church Women were
catering at the food booth
for the ploughing match
held at Bill Dowson's farm.
Ruth Johnston and
Sjoujke Steenbeek were
thanked for organizing the
evening.
The women who helped
prepare desserts and
serve them at the
Laurie/Dawe wedding
were thanked. A thank
you was also read from
Joe and Willi Laurie and
Heather and Steven Dawe.
A gift certificate was pre-
sented to Susan Kirton in
honour of her recent wed-
ding.
Shirley Hill, head of the
supper committee, was
thanked for all her hard
work. Hill thanked all
those who helped at the
Hayter/Haggitt wedding on
Aug. 20 and also the
Laurie/Dawe wedding.
Rathwell wished all the
women who had birthdays
and anniversaries over the
summer happy days.
