Please bring your own cutlery. Plates and cups will be supplied. All seniors welcome. The Huronview auxiliary is sponsoring a bus trip to the Walters Family Dinner and Concert on Tues., Oct. 4. The cost is $55 and this includes a buffet meal, concert and bus. The bus leaves Clinton Legion at 10 a.m. Proceeds will help to buy a sanitizer for Huronview. Contact Anna Keys if interested at 263-5260. The Varna United Church women and friends met at the Blyth United Church for a deli- cious roast beef supper with all the trimmings on Aug. 25. Deb Rathwell welcomed everyone and gave the blessing. It was nice to see Doris Wilson and also Margaret Hayter's daughter Darlene who was with them. Rathwell reminded everyone that last year at that same time the United Church Women were catering at the food booth for the ploughing match held at Bill Dowson's farm. Ruth Johnston and Sjoujke Steenbeek were thanked for organizing the evening. The women who helped prepare desserts and serve them at the Laurie/Dawe wedding were thanked. A thank you was also read from Joe and Willi Laurie and Heather and Steven Dawe. A gift certificate was pre- sented to Susan Kirton in honour of her recent wed- ding. Shirley Hill, head of the supper committee, was thanked for all her hard work. Hill thanked all those who helped at the Hayter/Haggitt wedding on Aug. 20 and also the Laurie/Dawe wedding. Rathwell wished all the women who had birthdays and anniversaries over the summer happy days. The theme this year is "Share a Little Magic." Due to the unpredictable fall weather, Big Brothers has changed the venue and date this year to the Oakwood Inn in Grand Bend on Nov. 4, ensuring a warm and magical evening. The evening includes a five course gourmet feast, live jazz, a culinary themed silent auction and door prizes. Headline chefs include Steven Bland of The Red Pump, McKenna Lavis of Bistro 437, Kate Craig of Lakeview Cafe and event organizer Barbara Bloch - Gower of Catering by Barbara.
