New CT scanner comes to area
STRATFORD — Stratford and
area residents will have better
access to more high-quality care
with a new CT scanner that has
been delivered to the Huron Perth
Healthcare Alliance Stratford
General Hospital site, Minister of
Health George Smitherman
announced recently.
"People suffering from significant
health problems should not have to
wait long periods of time to be
diagnosed," he said. "This new
machine is more technologically
advanced, which means that more
people in this area will receive the
procedures they need when they
need them."
"This is great news for patients in
the Stratford area," Perth -
Middlesex MPP John Wilkinson
said.
"For people receiving these scans
who get a clean bill of health, it will
mean quick peace of mind. For oth-
ers, it may mean a fighting chance
against a disease like cancer where
early detection is vital."
"The new CT scanner could not
have come at a better time for the
Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance
and the patients we serve," said
vice-president of operations and
chief financial officer of the
Alliance Ken Haworth.
"The replacement CT will greatly
increase our ability to meet the
needs of our patients. We are a

important diagnostic procedures."
The new CT scanner at Stratford
General Hospital is one of 26
replacement CTs across the
province, which will deliver 81,268
additional scans in 2005-06.
