(photo/submitted) New CT scanner comes to area STRATFORD — Stratford and area residents will have better access to more high-quality care with a new CT scanner that has been delivered to the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance Stratford General Hospital site, Minister of Health George Smitherman announced recently. "People suffering from significant health problems should not have to wait long periods of time to be diagnosed," he said. "This new machine is more technologically advanced, which means that more people in this area will receive the procedures they need when they need them." "This is great news for patients in the Stratford area," Perth - Middlesex MPP John Wilkinson said. "For people receiving these scans who get a clean bill of health, it will mean quick peace of mind. For oth- ers, it may mean a fighting chance against a disease like cancer where early detection is vital." "The replacement CT will greatly increase our ability to meet the needs of our patients. We are a New breastfeeding clinic offered at the Health Unit HURON CTY — Huron County " Starting September 8th, 2005, a breastfeeding clinic will be offered at the Huron County Health Unit in Clinton on Thursday mornings, from 9:00 a.m. until noon. These clinics will be provided in addition to the exist- ing home visiting ser- vices that are offered to families after the birth of a baby. Services available at the clinic include individual coun- selling by a Board Certified Lactation Consultant, weighing babies, developing a nursing care plan for mother and baby, and sales and rentals of breast pumps. Individuals can either self -refer, or can be referred to the clinic by any health care provider, including physicians, nurses, and midwives. The clinic is open to new mothers, as well as more experi- enced mothers who have questions or need some assistance. These clinical services will help to support mothers in providing the best nutrition for their children, while ensuring an enjoyable breastfeed- ing experience.
