G. Farm supply on Main Street. Happy belated birthday wishes go out to Adeline Denomy at the Blue Water Rest Home who was 101 years old on Aug. 13. The next free bus to the Bank of Montreal in Hensall will be on Mon., Aug. 29. Don't forget about the volunteer appreciation potluck supper at the Zurich Complex this Thurs., Aug. 25 at 6 p.m. Everyone who helped out at the fair in July are invit- ed to attend. The Regional Senior Games for District 29, Huron Perth and Middlesex County were held in Windsor on Aug. 9 and 10. Those going from our area came back with seven gold medals and two bronze. Blood Donor Clinic There will be a Blood Donor Clinic in Zurich at the Complex on Fri., Aug. 26 from 5 to 8 p.m. Please come out and donate to this very worthwhile cause. An outdoor barbecue supper was held at the home of Dan and Vicki McCarter on Aug. 16 with family members and friends helping their 6 - year -old daughter, Olivia celebrate her birthday. Pastor Ann Krueger of St. Peter's Lutheran Church and husband Bob, returned home recently from a nice three-week holiday at their cabin in Haliburton. Anyone having Ladies Auxiliary Bean Festival quilt ticket money and stubs please return them as soon as possible to Carmel or Hilda Lansbergen before Aug. 27. Also the same for the St. Boniface Catholic Women's League tickets. Leave them in the drum at church or give them to Julie Becker. Volunteers needed The Bean Festival is fast approaching and many volunteer helpers are needed to start cooking and stirring all the beans. The fun began in the Bean Festival Kitchen on Aug. 21 continuing to Wed., Aug. 24 each night at 7 p.m. Lots of help is needed on Saturday and for clean- up again Sunday morning. Be sure to come out and help celebrate our 40th anniversary Friday cruise night at 7 p.m. from the park with fireworks start- ing at dusk. An early morning break- fast will be served at the new Arena Complex from 7 to 10 a.m. Bean dinners being served from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Free outdoor entertainment gets under- way at noon on the main stage. There is a dance at the complex from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. with "Hells Bells" band playing. Important petition There is another impor- tant petition to sign at Schilbe's Pro Hardware (read poster in their win- dow) pertaining to have a meeting with Carol Mitchell to get a doctor in Zurich. We need all the names we can get. St. Boniface Knights of Columbus are sponsoring a golf tournaments on Thurs., Sept. 1 at the Bayview Golf Course. Best wishes for a speedy recovery to Pearl Heimrich of the Rau Apartments and Louis Willert who has moved to Goderich. Also to the family of David and Michelle Smith of Goderich who are recuperating from injuries due to a car accident recently. Mike and Kim Ryckman and family of Dashwood recently enjoyed spending a few days at Ponderosa Campgrounds at Kettle Point. Julie Bechard and Jana - Lynn Ramer are presently in Waterloo at the Mennonite Music Camp. Leanne Bechard is at Silver Lake Camp. A Ducharme family reunion was held in Dashwood Aug. 20 at the community centre for the descendants of late Paul and Violet Ducharme. Relatives came from Windsor, Chatham, Toronto, St. Thomas, London and the Zurich area. The next 150th anniver- sary meeting for Zurich in 2005 will be held on Thurs., Aug. 31 at the Lutheran Church Hall beginning at 7:30 p.m. Mary Walker -Thiel recently attended the Evangelical Lutheran Women's Convention in Winnipeg to represent the Zurich St. Peter's Lutheran Church from July 21 to 24. She and her husband spent a few days visiting on their way to Winnipeg. The Monday night ladies bowling league will be starting on Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. Cost is $11 for three games. New this year is automatic score keeping. It is great we already had a chance to try it out bowl- ing at our organization meeting. So come out meet new people, have fun and exercise at the same time. The youth bowling league will have registra- tion on Wed., Aug. 31 at the Zurich lanes from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Youth bowling is on Saturday morning from 9 a.m. to noon for ages 4 to 10 years old. Older chil- dren can bowl on Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. ages to 18 years. If you can't attend registration call 236-4923. Art Coker of Bayview subdivision celebrated his 65th birthday with some neighbours at the home of Deanna and Jim Fawcett on Aug. 13. Ken and Marion Burdett of the Bayview subdivision had a family reunion at their home on Sun., Aug. 21 with about 35 relatives coming from Stoney Creek, Brampton, London and Georgetown.
