Challenge Cup soccer action in South Huron
EXETER — The
Challenge Cup soccer
tournament held over
the weekend in Exeter
was a great success
with almost 1,000 soc-
cer players between the
ages of 11-17 partici-
pating.
Soccer president
Andrew Darling said
"the weather gods were
on our side as we were
able to get all the
games in with the last
game played under the
lights at Exeter
Community Park start-
ing at 8:45 p.m."
The two teams
involved, Delko Bridge
and the Strathroy U13
girls enjoyed the experi-
ence.
Although Saturday
was a long day it was
rewarding for the play-
ers.
All the Exeter teams
played hard, with the
U17's, U15's and U11's
making it through to
their finals only to come
up a little short.
In the case of the
U15's and U17's, the
teams lost in a penalty
shoot out.
The field conditions
were excellent some-
thing that did not go
unnoticed by many of
the visiting coaches.
Darling said a special
thanks to Dave Atthill
and his crew at the Rec
Centre is in order.
