Looking for historical pictures
for Zurich's sesquicentennial

ZURICH — The Zurich
Mennonite Church chicken
barbecue on July 28 was
once again a big success.
Lots of people with good
food, especially dessert.
Everyone enjoyed the
entertainment. The weath-
er was just perfect for this
annual community event.
A job well
done by all
the workers.
The Festival City Big
Band (18 -piece dance
band) will be in Bayfield at
their town hall on Sat.,
Aug. 13 beginning at 9
p.m. Tickets are $15 a per-
son and are going fast. If
you want some call 565-
2244 as soon as possible.
Ruth Ann Flaxbard and
Carmel Sweeney spent a
day last week in Elora vis-
iting with her Aunt Mae
and cousin Joan. On the
way home they stopped in
to see Julie and Mozart
Gelinas in Listowel.
Happy birthday wishes to
Vicki Wilder on July 28.
The Exeter Rodeo is on
August 6 and 7. Leann
Pollock from the Calgary
Stampede who is the
world's fastest trick rider
will be there. Also on
Friday evening is a pro-
gram beginning at 8 p.m.
Cathy Skinner and her
mother Nancy Becker (Bill)
of Dashwood visited with
another sister Laurie
Tuckey of Trenton at her
cottage in Grand Bend the
past weekend.
Tickets are on sale for
the St. Boniface chicken
barbecue to be held Sun.,
Aug. 14, from 5 - 6:30 p.m.
Cost of tickets for adults is
$10 and children 6 - 12

A reminder that the next
foot care clinic held at the
Maple Woods Apartment
will be on Mon., Aug. 8
from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon.

The Blue Water Tug of
War Team will be hosting
the Canadian
Championship Games at
the Oakwood Inn in Grand
Bend (beside the tennis
court) on Sat., Aug. 6 start-
ing at 11 a.m. Weigh-in for
men and women is at 9:30
a.m. Come out and cheer
for our local teams from
this area.
There is a World Youth
Day cele-
bration
at Our
Lady of Mount Carmel
Church on Sun., Aug. 21. It
begins with Mass at 1:30
p.m. followed by a youth
talent show, A Knights of
Columbus bike show and a
slide show presentation of
the World Youth Day in
2002. A family picnic sup-
per will be held after.
Bring along your lawn
chairs, blankets, umbrellas
and your own picnic lunch.
Everyone is welcome to
attend this event.
Are you getting your
things ready for the Zurich
community yard sale held
Sat., Aug. 13? There is
also a fireman's breakfast
held at the fireball.
The Monday night ladies
bowling organization
meeting will be held at the
Town and Country
Bowling Lanes in Zurich
Aug. 15 at 7 p.m. for any-
one interested in five -pin
bowling on Monday, 7 - 9
