Total receipts 2,410 head of cattle, 714 lambs and goats. Summary Tuesday The fed steers and heifers sold $ 2.00 lower. Choice steers and heifers sold 92.00 to 98.00 sales to 106.75, 2nd cut steers and heifers sold 88.00 to 92.00.The cows sold on a strong active trade with prices steady to last week. Thursday The veal sold on a lower demand with prices $2.00 to $5.00 lower. The lambs sold ona strong active trade withprices $5.00 to $10.00 higher. Friday All weights and classes of stockers sold on a strong active trade with prices steady to last week. Steers There were 769 steers on offer. Owen B. Martin, Wellesley consigned nine limo steers averaging 1180 lbs which sold for 106.75. His overall offer- ing of thirteen steers averaged 1244 lbs selling for an average price of 102.46. Fourteen steers con- signed by Schmidt Brook Farms, Woodstock aver- aged 1594 lbs which sold for an average price of 89.79 with their top blonde steer weighing 1400 lbs selling for 105.00. Tobias Brubacher, Elmira consigned three black steers averaging 1483 lbs which sold for 104.25. Heifers There were 244 heifers on offer. Clarence Dekens, Clinton consigned one blonde heifer weighing 1380 lbs which sold for 105.25. His overall offer- ing of twenty-five heifers averaged 1294 lbs selling for an average price of 95.92. Four heifers consigned by Andy VanderVeen, Blyth averaged 1248 lbs selling for an average price of 95.96 with his top blonde heifer weighing 1130 lbs selling for 104.25. Dave McClinchey, Auburn consigned eleven limo heifers averaging 1164 lbs which sold for 96.10. Cows There were 162 cows on offer. D1 & D2 45.00 - 55.00 sales to 63.00 D3 35.00 - 45.00 D4 15.00 - 25.00 John Duckett, Flesherton consigned one sim cow weighing 1385 lbs which sold to St Helen's, Meat Packers for 63.00. One limo cow consigned by Les & Deb Falconer, Clinton weighed 1170 lbs selling for 63.00. Sandra Dewar, Walkerton consigned one gold cow weighing 1695 lbs which sold for 62.00. Bulls There were 15 bulls on offer selling 36.50 to 54.00 sales to 62.50 Blair and Shannon Bieman, Belgrave con- signed one black wf bull weighing 1865 lbs which sold to Dominion Meat Packers for 54.00. One limo bull consigned by Larry Moggy, Manitowaning weighed 1980 lbs which sold to Dominion Meat Packers for 50.00. A good offering of cows traded at prices $5.00 higher. Holstein bull calves traded under pressure, sows and boars steady. A light offering of stockers traded strong. POLICE BRIEF South Huron break-ins SOUTH HURON - On June 19 two break-ins were reported to OPP. Workers at an agricultural business on Alexander Road reported a barn was forced open through the night. It's believed two pigs valued at $700 were loaded into an older pickup truck and taken away.
