its annual Russ Beaver
Memorial Shoot on July 23
on a rain delay from July
16. The club grounds were
flooded with two feet of
water on the original shoot
date. The weather was beau-

OMHA referee schools
RICHMOND HILL —
The OMHA has
announced that regis-
tration is now open for
the 2005 OMHA
Referee Schools.
Now in its eleventh
year of operation, the
school now encompass-
es three locations:
West -Windsor; Central -
Guelph and new for
2005, East -Trenton.
The schools have
grown to the point
where they now attract
officials from across
the province and the
United States.
The successful and
popular school format
provides new and less
experienced officials
with an opportunity to
acquire officiating
skills and rule knowl-
edge while completing
OMHA and Hockey
Canada certification
requirements.
The intensive agenda
features classroom
instruction including
audiovisual presenta-
tions, as well as on -ice
training.
The OMHA Referee
Schools feature a vari-
ety of guest speakers.
This includes the 'Hot
Stove' panel discus-
sion.
This unique feature of
the school consists of a
panel including present
and former officials of
the National Hockey
League, the Ontario
Hockey League, and
the Ontario Hockey
Federation.
School objectives
include:
•To teach the meth-
ods and procedures of
officiating in both the
two and three official
systems.
•To instruct uniform
interpretation of the
rules.
•To provide each offi-
cial with on -ice ses-
sions to acquaint them
with the duties of the
referee and linesmen.
•To provide each offi-
cial with an opportuni-
ty to improve overall
officiating perfor-
mance.
•To learn effective
communication strate-
gies and techniques.
Dates for the Windsor
and Guelph schools are
from Sept. 23-25.
The Trenton school
will run from Sept. 30 -
Oct. 2.
The cost for the
school for new officials
is $229 before Aug. 12
and $254 after.
The cost for officials
to recertify is $299
until Aug. 12 and $324
afterward.
The deadline for reg-
istration is Sept. 1.

Required:At minimum 3 separate cheques will be
required - one for registration, one for fundraising
and one for non -participatory
(Additional cheques will be needed if the player will be
trying out for rep. team or wishing to attend a power
skating clinic.)
