Exeter Terry Fox Run chair Ann DeVries said pledge sheets for the Sept. 18 run at MacNaughton Park are available at Stedmans as well as the Exeter Library, Hansen's Independent Grocer and Holtzmann's IGA. Posters have also been placed around town to promote the run, which will go ahead rain or shine. Bio -Connections will be on site to provide massages for participants. DeVries said $440 has also been raised for this September's Terry Fox Run, as guests at a recent family function were asked to make donations instead of bring gifts. Elly announced there were photos of Susan Kirton's (daughter of Jim Kirton) wedding to Jason Middleton held Fri.,July 23 in Toronto at the Fantasy Farm Wedding Centre. Heather Laurie and Steven Dawe's celebrated their wedding on Sat., July 24 with Pastor Elly officiating the ceremony at the home of Joe and Willi Laurie. Photos of Madelyn POLICE BRIEF Separation leads to fight BLUEWATER — Huron OPP were called to a resi- dence in Bluewater July 16 about an assault. An officer learned a cou- ple was separating. Both were trying to divide property and arrange for child visitations. A heated argument began. During the discussion one person became upset and threw and struck the other per- son with an object. A 25 - year -old female has been charged with assault. Hot dog barbecue lunch July 31 By Rhoda Rohde THAMES ROAD CORRESPONDENT THAMES ROAD — Dave Williams was in charge of the Tenth Sunday after Pentecost church service on Sunday morning. The Introit was sung and Williams gave the welcome and everyone shook hands. Williams gave the announce- ment and led in the Call to Worship responsive- ly. The hymn of gather- ing "Come In Come In and Sit Down" was sung. Williams gave the Prayer of Gathering and Confession. Hymn for the young in heart "Simon, Simon a Fisherman" was sung and Williams gave a story about "Fred Cook and Abigail". The choir sang "It Is Glory Just to Walk With Him" accompanied by the organist Marilyn Vandenbussche. Psalm 105:1-11 was read responsively. Williams read Genesis 29:15-28 and the title of his meditation was "Poetic Justice". Hymn THAMES of praise "Will You Come and Follow Me" was sung. Larry Lynn and Erin Parsons received the offering. The closing hymn "0 Master Let Me Walk With Thee" was sung. Williams gave the Commissioning and pronounced the Benediction, The clos- ROAD NEWS chorus was sung. Announcements July 31 - The worship service "An Observer Service", will be held by the Outreach and Worship committee fol- lowed by a hotdog bar- becue lunch at 11:20 a.m. and sponsored by the Joint Needs Assessment Committee. Beginning at 12:02 p.m. there is a congregation- al workshop. The joint needs Assessment Committee is asking for everyone's participa- tion and input into what type of ministry will meet their needs. There will be a presen- tation followed by dis- cussion groups to gath- er the information required for developing the Joint Needs Assessment report. Sept. 10 - The Finance Committee is planning the second annual golf and barbe- cue fundraiser at the Exeter Golf Course. $40. includes green fees and all you can eat barbecue. Barbecue only $15. Personals Tyler and Sarah Van Allen of Crosshill have been holidaying with their grandmother Margaret Stewart. There were 40 ladies from Thames Road- Elimville UCW and some guests had their supper at Londesborough United Church and attended the show "Powers and Gloria" at Blyth Festival Theatre on Thursday evening. Get your tickets for the Hensall fish fry By Liz Sangster HENSALL CORRESPONDENT HENSALL — At Carmel Presbyterian Church Tracy Whitson- Bahro's message was "Family Feud Bible Style". Joyce Pepper was the organist with Harry Smith and Robert Bell receiving the offer- ing. The service closed with benediction and choral amen. The Hensall Fish Fry will be held at the Hensall Fire Hall on Sunday, August 14 from 5pm to 7pm. Advance tickets only. This is an all you can eat event. The cost is $12 for adults and $6 for chil- dren 12 and under. All proceeds to community enhancement. For tick- ets call 262-2207 or 262-2050. Pilkey's (granddaughter of Joan and Wayne Beierling) baptism held Sun., July 17 in Oshawa United Church were also posted. Congrats to Arnold and Nora Keys. Sun., July 31 will be the annual picnic service at the complex with the Exeter Community Band as musical guests. There will be an open house and garden party at the manse on Aug. 6 with the rain date being Sun., Aug. 7. Gladess Van Egmond with be there as a special musical guest. There will not be wor- ship services in Varna or Goshen churches for the month of August. This is your chance to visit other neighbouring churches.
