Skeet shooting tournament OSHAWA — The Canadian Open Skeet Shooting Championships were held in Oshawa June 24-26. The event was attended by 181 shooters from across Canada and the United States. Bill McNutt of Crediton won the Open 12 Gauge Championship for the first time by outlasting seven other 100 straight shooters in a long shootoff. The shootoffs are run by shooting doubles only at stations three, four and five. When the weekend was over McNutt also came away winning the title of Champion of Champions breaking a perfect score of 100, shooting 25 targets in each of the four gauges. Another local shooter performing at the top was Jenifer Holmes from the Grand Bend area. Holmes excelled in the competitive Ladies Division and came home win- ning several medals, including Ladies champion runner up in both doubles and 12 gauge. She finished only two targets behind top American Ladies shooter Brenda Banger from Maine. On her way to those titles Holmes also captured her Open Doubles class championship in a shootoff and the 500 target High All Around in her open class. `"'"° Dr. Geoff Hann '`.(;777,1 n (a„aa 105 MAIN ST., EXETER 235-1535 chiropractor • back/neck/joint pain • workplace injuries • auto accidents • sports injuries • orthotics NOW ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS Wednesday Ladies June 29 Low Gross/Low Net Flight A LG Carol Preece 44 LN Louise Pincombe 34 Flight B LG Rose Rader 46 LN Sharon Passmore 31 Flight C LG Jeannie Phillips 56 LN Cris Carloss 37 Flight D LG Lori Gould 53 LN Pam DeJong 21 50/50 Kathy Hayter Senior Men June 30 • CTP #3 Ross Mathers, #6 John McLean A flight LN George Tryon 32 B flight LN Bob May 34 C ffight LN Bob Clark 34 D flight LN Jack Riddell 29 First Team (145): Don Dawe, Gerald Dearing, Winston Shapton, Jack Hogan, (tie), Brian O'Neill, Anson McKinley, Ray Consitt, Harold Knight.
