Sunshine greets local Canada Day celebrations
The Knights of Columbus and participants in the bicycle decorating contest and rodeo helped lead off the
Canada Day parade down Lucan's Main Street. Lucan Biddulph hosted fireworks, two dances, a Canada trivia
contest, a free barbecue, a skateboard demonstration, swimming, a battle of the bands and free admission to
the Heritage Museum.
Above, Emalee Murphy of Lucan steers her decorated
bicycle through the bike rodeo and safety check, run by
the Lucan Optimist Club. Below, Jessica Wakefield, also of
Lucan, waits in line for her bike to go through the safety
inspection. Other activities in Lucan included a teen
video dance party Thursday night, a BX 93 dance Friday
night, a cake cutting, swimming at the Lucan Pool, an out-
door concert and beer tent, entertainment for seniors
and an outside patio at the Lucan Legion.
Stephen Toohey of Granton drove his 1970 Dodge Charger in the Canada Day parade in Lucan and then par-
ticipated in the old car display at Market Street park.
One of the highlights of
Lucan Biddulph's Canada
Day celebrations was
the parade down Main
Street, which Lucan
brothers Logan, left, and
Danial Cotton checked
out.
