If you need temporary help with tasks you don't have time for, or simply aren't able to perform yourself, look no further than the Odd Job Squad! The Human Resource Centres of Canada for Students (HRCC-S) link students seeking tempo- rary summer employment with employers or home- owners seeking help. This initiative is called the Odd Job Squad. Students register with the Odd Job Squad at their local HRCC-S, indi- cating their work experi- ence and availability. They are notified when a job they qualify for becomes available. Examples of odd jobs include lawn and farm work, clerical duties, painting, and flyer distri- bution. Employers and home- owners interested in tak- ing advan- tage of this unique service, and stu- dents interest- ed in joining our Odd SUMMER Job EMPLOYMENT Squad, OFFICER can con- tact the Exeter HRCC-S at (519) 235-1711. Our office hours are Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The HRCC-S also pro- vides services to employ- ers seeking full-time and part-time summer employees. Services include job postings and access to information about employment stan- dards, health and safety in the workplace, wage rates and other Government of Canada programs and services. Don't forget — the Exeter HRCC-S will host a free Health and Safety Workshop July 14, from 9 a.m. to noon. Not only will this workshop be an excellent addition to your resume, it will help you become more aware of workplace dangers and your rights as a worker, to ensure you have a safe and enjoyable summer. Limited space is avail- able, so contact the HRCC-S right away to reserve your spot. The HRCC-Ss are part of the Government of Canada's Youth Employment Strategy. For more information on this and other Government of Canada summer and work experi- ence programs, call the toll-free Youth Info Line at 1-800-935-5555 or visit youth.gc.ca. KATIE EMMRICH
