Get ready for
Canada Day
EXETER — As usual there are many
ways to help celebrate Canada's birth-
day this year.
Canada Day activities in Exeter kick off
Friday from 8-11 a.m. with the Exeter
Legion Ladies Auxiliary Breakfast at the
Ag Building behind South Huron Rec
Centre.
The meal of pancakes, ham, sausage,
eggs, toast, orange juice and coffee costs
$6 for adults, $2.50 for children 12 and
under or $20 per family.
The ever -popular Classic Car Show,
with proceeds to the Exeter Youth
Centre, will run from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The Bike Decorating Contest takes
place at the Rec Centre at 10 a.m.
The Child Fair, featuring games, face
painting and clowns, will be held at the
Ag Building from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.,
while on the west side of the Ag
Building, the South Huron Fire
Department will present
an automobile
extraction demon-
stration from 11
a.m. to noon.
Also at noon,
the bar opens and
the Exeter Lions
Chipwagon will
be on location.
Local singing tal-
ent can show off
their vocal stylings at
the second annual South
Huron Idol contest inside the Rec Centre
at 1 p.m.
More talent will be on display in the Ag
Building from 1-2 p.m. when dancers
from the Jo Read School of Dance give a
demonstration.
If you need to cool off from the sum-
mer temperatures, head over to the
Exeter pool for a free swim from 2-3:30
p.m.
And if you're in the mood for some
entertainment, the Jim Ashby Band will
play at the Ag Building from 2-4:30 p.m.
Four hundred tickets are available for
the roast beef dinner at South Huron
Rec Centre. The meal is $12 for adults,
$6 for children aged six to 12 and free
for children five and under.
After dinner, more entertainment is
provided by local band Rural Roots.
And as always, the fireworks wrap up
the day at the ball diamond at dusk.
Lucan Canada Day
Not to be outdone is Lucan, which has
many activities planned for Canada Day.
Things actually kick off Thursday night
with a Teen Video Dance Party at the
Lucan Community Centre from 7:30-11
p.m.
The fireworks in Lucan will also be
held Thursday night (at 9:30 p.m.) at the
Community Centre.
Friday morning, Main Street will host
a parade from 10-10:45 a.m., followed
by the judging of decorated bicycles and
the bike rodeo from 10:45 a.m. until
12:30 p.m.
Interested in old cars? Head over to
Lions Park on Market Street for a dis-
play from 10:45 am. until 2 p.m.
A Canada trivia contest will be held at
the Community Centre from 11
a.m. until noon, as will a
free barbecue and cake
cutting from 11:30 a.m.
until 1 p.m.
Also, the
Lucan Legion
will host an out-
side patio from
noon until 11
p.m.
The skateboard
demonstration takes place from 12:45-
1:30 p.m.
Those interested in Lucan Biddulph's
history can check out the Heritage
Museum on Frank Street for free. The
museum will be open from 1-4 p.m.
Need to cool off? Head over to the
Lucan pool from 1-3 p.m.
The outdoor concert and beer tent
with Moonshine Riders takes place from
1:30-5:30 p.m., with a Battle of the
Bands from 2-6 p.m.
Lions Park will host entertainment for
seniors from 2-4 p.m.
A BX93 Video Dance Party wraps
things up at the Community Centre from
9 p.m. until 1 a.m.
