Dale will also be filling the role as acting general manager according to Hawks' president Tom Seip, while the team looks for a permanent replace- ment. The Howards were with Parkhill last season, which Dale described as the "toughest season we ever had," having to rebuild the team when they were expecting to have most of the players back. Describing himself as a defensive minded coach, Dale said "while fans like offence, defence wins." The Hawks have a good core of players coming back, according to Dale, with "incredible leader- ship...the talent is the best in the league." "I want to win and the kids that want to do that will get picked," said Dale. "Work ethic is every- thing...we won't be out- worked." Having Finkbeiner behind the bench will be another advantage, said Dale. "Fink bridges the gap, he just has to know how to separate friends from players." The Hawks will hold a minor camp prior to the main training camp, which Dale recommends for 15 and 16 year olds, "to get the feel for it...and overcome intimidation." The rookie camp is Aug. 27-28 from 10 a.m to 4 p.m. in Huron Park. Both on -ice and off -ice activities will be offered. Cost for the camp is es get rea SPORTS TIPS? While he will miss being on the ice with the Hawks after two Junior D cham- pionships, Finkbeiner said "my time is passed...it would be great to add another one as a coach."
