CREDITON - The
Crediton Laurmart
Juniors find themselves in
close matches every
game. The local squad is
definitely holding its own
in the Tier II league. The
local squad fights hard at
every game and if you
would like to see some
great fastball come out to
one of their games.
Crediton 6 vs
Otterville 7
The match
against Otterville
was a very close
one throughout the
whole evening
with Crediton tak-
ing a 3-2 lead in
the fourth inning
after the first three
innings only Jessic
allowed three bat-
ters per inning. The game
went into overtime with a
6-6 tie with Otterville
scoring and Crediton
unable to capitalize on
scoring a run.
Shortstop Jessica Davies
saw a lot of action and
never missed a chance at
an out.
Kelli Fulton led her
team at the plate with
three singles with one
being a perfectly -placed
bunt while Jessica Davies'
bat was on fire pounding
out a double and triple.
Kerri Fulton added two
singles with a double off
the bat of Jessica Bray
and singles from Megan
Preszcator, Amber
Preszcator, Melissa Prout
and Carrie Dixon.
Dixon strongly went the
distance on the plate.
Crediton 3 vs
South London 6
Crediton jumped on the
scoreboard early in the
game scoring three runs
in the first inning but
were held scoreless the
rest of the game leaving
ten players on the bases
unable to get them across
home plate. The team

the seventh inning with
two on base but was
unable to tie the game.

Crediton 8
vs London
Rebels 7
A perfect game
to watch saw
Crediton defeat
the first -place
team from London.
Several girls were playing
different positions for the
game but every player
showed their strong soft-
ball skills throughout all
seven innings.
Jessica Davies led her
team at the plate with
four singles. Carie
Pertschy and Jessica Bray
added three singles
apiece. The same duo
played superbly outfield
together, along with out-
fielders Melissa Prout and
Janelle Dykstra stopping
a lot of London rallies.
Nikki Cyr and Janelle
Dykstra added two singles
apiece with sin-
gles from the bats
of Julie Prout and
Kerri Fulton.
Kerri Fulton on
first base and
catcher Julie
Prout were big
forces throughout
the game. Natalie
Laporte helped
the win with
plays on second
base.
Carrie Dixon went the
distance for Crediton.
Crediton 2 vs
Oakridge 8
A very close 2-0 game
until the sixth inning
found Crediton on the los-
ing side. A couple of men-
tal errors by Crediton and
strong defense by London
were the reasons for
Crediton's demise.
Julie Prout led her team
at the plate with two sin-
gles with single hits
added from the bats of
Megan Preszcator, Kelli
and Kerri Fulton, Nikki
Cyr, Melissa Prout and

Special note
The Crediton
junior team
would like to
extend a big
thank you to
Julie
Prout
Marten and
Laurie Dykstra
(Laurmart Transport) for
the donation of uniforms
for the team. It is a won-
derful gesture and allows
the players (majority of
which are post secondary
students) to save a bit of
money.

up the win, and Dan Masse held the
potent Listowel bats to nine hits.
Merner was charged with all five
runs.
He struck out three and walked
one.
Masse pitched the final three
innings for the save. He struck out
four batters.
The Express took an early five run
lead in the first two innings with key

a run.
Listowel added three in the sixth
on three hits.
The Express rallied again for two
runs over the final two innings.
Four solid hits by Nick Regier,
Oliveira, Terry Genttner and Scott
Smith were the highlights of the ral-
lies.
With the squad still shorthanded
the team was in Strathroy June 11.
The Express won a thrilling contest
against the first place Royals by a
2-1 score.
The game was contested Saturday
afternoon in the extreme heat and
humidity of the day but both starting
pitchers went the distance.
The Express scored in the first as
Patterson walked, stole second base
and stole home on a double steal.
Lonnie Hawke and Dan Masse
each had hits in the inning.
There was no further scoring till
the ninth. Patterson again walked
and scored on a hit by Hawke.
Starter Derek Masse kept the
potent Strathroy batting order
under control during the first eight
innings
Two walks and two hits saw
Strathroy score a run and have the
bases loaded with two outs.
Masse retired the final batter with
a fly ball to center fielder Genttner.
Masse struck out eight, walked four
and allowed six hits in picking up
the win.
Other Exeter hits came from
Oliveira with two, a third hit by
Hawke, a second hit by Masse, and a
single by Terry Genttner.
The Express had a tough weekend
losing three games at home.
On Friday they lost 8-5 to the
London Bulls. Saturday they lost
twice to Tillsonburg 7-5 and 4-1.
The game against the Bulls was a
see saw affair with the score tied
until the eighth at 5-5.
Exeter's defense wasn't as good as
normal allowing seven unearned
runs.
Curtis Meyers and Scott Kemp held
the visitors to seven hits.
The Express had 12 hits but
stranded nine runners throughout
the game.
Hawke sparked the Exeter offense
with three hits including a homerun.
Coach Fairbairn had to play part of
game one versus Tillsonburg as the
Express had only eight players at
weekend
game time.
Fairbairn made a stellar defensive
play and pulled himself from the
game.
Dan Masse was the loser giving up
seven runs (six unearned) on seven
hits.
Again the game was tied going into
the last inning. Again, the opposition
rallied for two runs.
Exeter's leading hitters were
Hawke and Patterson with two
each.
The second game of the double-
header was a close one with
Tillsonburg putting the game away
by scoring two runs in the sixth and
one in the seventh.
Merner scattered 10 opposition
hits.
Exeter had only six hits with
Hawke again leading the way with
two hits.
The Express league record is now
3-5.

and face Strathroy Friday night at
7:30 p.m. plus a Saturday match in
St. Thomas at 2 p.m.
