Easter Seals marks milestone
The Easter Seal Society of Huron County received its official charter in November. Now the charity has

Worship, picnic next Sunday

THAMES ROAD —
Rev. Harry Disher of
Grand Bend was in
charge of the church
and com-
munion
service on
Sunday morning.
The Introit was sung
and Sharon Passmore lit
the Christ candle, intro-
duced Rev. Disher and
welcomed everyone.
Everybody shook hands
and Rev. Disher gave
the announcements and
gave the call to worship,
Colossians 3:1-4.
The gathering prayer
was read. The gathering
hymn, "Come and Find
the Quiet Centre" was
sung. Prayer of confes-
sion was read. The affir-
mation of our faith, "A
New Creed" was read in
unison.
The children's hymn,
"Worship the Lord,"
was sung and Rev.
Disher told the chil-
dren's story, "The
Teddy Goes to the
Hospital."
The choir sang, "For
You I Am Praying,"
accompanied by the
organist Jean Hodgert.
Psalm 116:1-2, 12-19
was read. Rev. Disher
read Acts 3:1-9,
Matthew 9:9-26, and the
title of his sermon was,
"In Need of Healing."
Hymn of praise, "All
Who Hunger" was sung.
Virginia Warwick and
Passmore received the
offering and Warwick
was the greeter.
The Sacrament of the
Lord's Supper took
place with Rev. Disher
and Judith Parker,
Passmore and Warwick
assist-
ing.
T h e
closing hymn "Bless
Now 0 God the Journey"
was sung.
Rev. Disher gave the
commissioning and pro-
nounced the benedic-
tion. "May the God of
Hope Go With Us" was
sung.

Hymn closes UM meeting

EXETER — The afternoon UCW of the Exeter United
Church held their meeting Thurs., June 9 with leader
Marian Dougall in charge.
Business was discussed. Pat Down presented some
reports. Helen Roberts convened the worship and used
the theme, "The Journey" for the topic.
Ida McBride read from John 14:15-21. Mary Baechler
read a poem about "June." Roberts read "Summer"
and "Reflections," and also gave "The Traveller's
Prayer."
The meeting closed with the hymn, "All the Way My
Saviour Leads Me," followed by the UCW Benediction.
Leona Hearn's group served lunch.
Construction tools taken
EXETER — On May 13 police were called to a home
on Snider Crescent in Exeter to learn someone had
entered the residence overnight through a window.
Once inside numerous power tools and hand tools, val-
ued at more than $5,000, were stolen. The tools
belonged to several companies working at the home.
The items stolen include: 16 & 18 gauge nailers, a com-
pressor, three cordless drills, a DeWalt drill and a
Milwaukee sawzall. Neighbours say a light-coloured
utility van was spotted at the home just before midnight.

Busted at high school
EXETER — On June 7 an officer stopped a youth,
under investigation for some incidents, in the parking lot
of South Huron District High School. The officer located
a small quantity of marijuana inside one of his pockets.
A 15 -year-old male from South Huron has been charged
with possession of a controlled substance. He will
appear in Goderich court August 11.
