A special menu to treat your father
Father's Day is a time to treat our dads and husbands! My father, Edward
Chester, has to be one of the easiest men to please when it comes to food prepa-
ration. He likes all manner of things and will often
comment "that as long as he doesn't have to cook it,
he is sure it will be wonderful!" When my three
brothers and I were at home Dad's night in the
all- well maybe I did a wee bit of clean up! The following four recipes are spe-
cially picked with Dad and Randy in mind. Sweet Apple Vinaigrette was the
dressing Randy used at our dinner party and would
compliment a fresh greens salad or a raw vegetable
medley.
Baked Beans in the slow cooker represents many
cooking with memories
kitchen was not looked forward to, that may have
been the beginnings of my own desire to master the
kitchen. I must say Dad has worked himself around the kitchen reasonably well
in retirement and he is a master at breakfast! Way to go Dad.
Randy, my husband, enjoys the challenge of the kitchen and through the years
has tried many new recipes out (from main courses to desserts). Just recently he
has cooked a full dinner for our couples club and I just sat back and enjoyed it
SWEET APPLE
VINAIGRETTE
1/3 cup apple jelly
3 tbsp olive oil or Canola
3 tbsp apple cider vinegar
1/2 tsp dry mustard
1/4 tsp each of salt & pepper
Microwave or heat jelly till
warm. Put next 5 ingredients
into a blender, add jelly and
process till smooth. A hand
blender works as well. Chill.
Marinate raw vegetables in the
dressing or drizzle the dressing
lightly over a mixed green salad.

years of baked beans with fresh baked brown bread in
my childhood home. I, of course, chose the easy baked
beans for this feature! We all know men enjoy steak and pork on the BBQ so try
out the new Flavourful BBQ Sauce. And lastly, I feature the Glazed Strawberry
Pie. Randy and my kids all enjoy this in strawberry season.
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to the wonderful men in my life, Randy and Dad!
