Twelve members and two guests enjoyed a lovely lunch pre- pared by June Stewart's group. Following lunch, president Fern Dougall opened the meeting with a poem and the Institute Ode and Mary Stewart Collect were recited. The roll call was answered by the members giving a gardening hint. It was suggested to put out Bounce sheets to keep rabbits from eating the plants and also to sing to your plants to encourage growth. Stewart then introduced the guest speaker, Kate Monk, from the Ausable-Bayfield Conservation Authority. Monk took the group on a walking tour of the MacNaughton Morrison Trail via picture slides. Monk told of the history and the development of the trail. The group realizes how for- tunate the community is to have such a project available for every- one. The maintenance and upkeep of the trail is an ongoing process so donations are always welcomed. Helen Webber thanked Monk with an appropriate gift. Stewart had several gardening readings and Hern had some humorous stories for the group. Dougall then con- cluded the business por- tion of the meeting with a discussion of the fair display in Exeter and Zurich. The district picnic is Tues., July 5 in Grand Bend. A donation was given to the Children's Aid Camp program. Marilyn Pym gave a report on the district annual held in Crediton. The meeting adjourned for a social time and a viewing of I-Iern's garden. fer HAPPY \QRADATI0N!
