CindyVisser's Grade 2 class at Exeter Public School held a"Flat Stanley" party last
week, in celebration of Jeff Brown's popular Flat Stanley children's book series. In
the book, Stanley is crushed flat by a falling bulletin board. One of the advantages
Stanley discovers from this is that he can visit his friends around the world by
travelling in an envelope. Students at Exeter Public made their own "flat" charac-
ters and mailed them to various places around the world, such as China,Australia
and Europe as well as across North America. From left are Dillin Chessell, holding
a model airplane his dad made, Kasie Dasilva holding a Chinese pillowcase and
Matthew Smillie with aTasmanian devil toy. Parents also attended last week's
party. (photo/Scott Nixon)
