The fresh air and sunshine contributed to a great exercise session that was followed by games and quizzes devel- oped to stimulate the mind. Several residents benefited from therapeutic massage throughout the day with Lori Burt, RMT who is at Queensway each Monday. In the afternoon the Hensall United Church Women provided assistance and prizes at bingo. Tuesday morning, the breakfast group lingered over eggs made to order with cheddar cheese, melon, toast, coffee, tea and juice. The boarding house reach was in evidence as everyone enjoyed the meal. Julie Keagan, social worker chaired the family council meeting Wednesday afternoon with a good attendance of residents, family and friends. Euchre games facilitat- ed by volunteer Marg Cole had several residents busy also in the afternoon. Coffee and Current Events group met Thursday morn- ing to peruse the weekly and daily papers. The section with excerpts from ten to 100 years ago is of great inter- est to residents who often knew many of those men- tioned. Music therapist, Lisa Stewart met with several residents individually as well as her small group Thursday, working her musical magic. Friday morning following Fun and Fitness, the resident food committee met to review the new summer menuss giving their input and opinions. Adjustments will be made based on their suggestions. In the evening, Andy Rau and his friends provided musical entertainment in the retirement residence lounge. Manicures, walks out- doors and games completed the week. $35 million for farm research By Stephanie Mandziuk TIMES -ADVOCATE STAFF AYLMER — The federal and provincial govern- ments announced Saturday they are inject- ing $35 million into a pro- gram to support new research and development projects within Ontario's agriculture and agrifood sector. Funding for the Canada - Ontario Research and Development (CORD) pro- gram can be used for a number of initiatives to add value to farm produc- tion, explore new process- ing ventures and tap pre- viously unused resources of information or exper- tise. Bob Bedggood, chair of the Agricultural Adaption Council says, "This invest- ment provides a timely boost to move those ideas from where people are just thinking about them, to the point where they're putting the wheels in motion, bringing them closer to reality, and we need more of that in this province, and across the country." Bodv found in reservoir PAR LL — The body of a missing Parkhill canoeist was located Monday morning in the Parkhill Conservation Area. John Watson, 43, drowned Saturday morning in five metres of water when his canoe capsized. His partner tried to save him and then swam to shore to get help. Police say neither canoeist was wearing a life -jacket. Deliberate fire at SHDHS EXETER — Several skids of building material, being used to repair the roof of South Huron District High School, were set on fire May 28. The material was stored inside a fenced area, next to the high school. OPP say a container with a flammable substance was opened, poured out and set on fire burning roofing material and a shed on school property. Damage is pegged at $2,000. Coming events Thurs., June 9 at 6 p.m.: Senior Diners; Sat., June 11 at 11 a.m.: Residents will watch the Hensall Fair parade and in the afternoon several will tour the fairgrounds; Sat., June 18 at 2 p.m.: Open Doors at Queensway with opening ceremony at 2 p.m. followed by tours, displays and free draws. Annual fundraiser Exeter Scotiabank raised $1,078 for the Children's Hospital during its annual hot dog barbecue last Friday, selling 360 hot dogs.
