Deb Rathwell opened the meeting with a reading on "The Seven Wonders of the World." Alysha Dowson favoured everyone with her gift of music and sang "Angels Looking Down." Rathwell thanked those that helped serve for the Blyth Singers May 28. At thank you was read from Doug, Haley and baby Evan for the rose they received when Evan was born. A thank you to Carol and George Simons, Elly Van Bergen and Joe Laurie for cleaning the cabin at Camp Menesetung on May 24. Mon., June 13 is camp day at Camp Menesetung with the theme of Laughter. Registration at 9 with coffee. Rathwell reported the Five Alive sent $400 to Camp Menestung from the Five Alive Church Service May 29. A dona- tion will be given to vaca- tion Bible School as well as cookies. The Summer Event is Sat., July 18. Ruth Johnston and Sjoujke Steenbeek are organizing the Aug. 25 outing to the Blyth Church for dinner and then on to the Blyth Theatre to see "The 13th One." Cost is $35 per per- son for dinner and play. Please call Johnston or Steenbeek to book your tickets. Barb Consitt and Joyce Dowson had the Devotion on Spring, "The Garden of Our Lives." Hymn "I Just Keep Trusting My Lord" was sung. Consitt did prayer and scripture. Dowson read "Planting In the Garden of Our Lives" and hymn "I Know Who Holds the Future" was sung. Consitt read a poem on "Lilacs" and the meet- ing ended with the UCW Benediction. Church was in Varna on Sunday with Annie McBride lighting the Christ candle. Birthday greetings were extended to Mona Stephenson on June 1. The ABCA is Ontario's oldest conservation authority. The board of directors is forming a committee to oversee celebrations marking the milestone. But the risk of high intensity ultraviolet light is high with skin cancer often the end result. Practise moderation in your sun exposure and use sunscreen lotions for protection Most sun damage occurs before the age of 18. Sun., June 12 at 2 p.m. is Decoration Day at Bairds Cemetery with Pastor Elly Van Bergen officiating. June 12 is the 40th anniversary of the Bluewater Nursing Home with activities, refresh- ments and tours from 1- 5 p. m. The Varna pork BBQ is June 15. Get your tickets. On June 21 the teens will be meeting for bowling or a movie. Register your child for Brucefield, Kippen, Varna and Goshen Vacation Bible School to be held Aug. 2-5 from 9-12 noon. The theme will be The Safari Adventure. Pick up the registration forms at your church. Reunion The 69th Stephenson reunion will be held June 12 at 1 p.m. at the Huron Centennial School with a potluck lunch. Please spread the word to your family and plan to attend. Many from the Varna community enjoyed the breakfast in Brucefield on Saturday. They served approximately 950 peo- ple. Crokinole Championship Some crokinole mem- bers from the Varna Club attended the World's Crokinole Championship in Tavistock on Sat., June 5. Congrats to Joe Fulop on placing 3rd in the Singles Division and Raymond Beierling placed 5th in the Singles. Raymond and Jason Beierling placed 3rd in the Doubles Division. Abe Leitch a new member of the club was the champi- on in the Recreational Division. Congrats to these play- ers. We have some very competitive crokinole players in Varna.
