A good offering of cows sold fully steady to stronger. Holstein bull calves traded steady. Don Eedy and Mark Vanderploeg, Denfield sold 18 heifers average weight 1361, average price 94.09 to a high of 96.75 purchased by Norwich Packers. David and Glen Minielly, Wyoming sold 12 heifers average weight 1245, average price 85.71. Gord Hardy, Lucan sold 19 steers aver- age weight 1379, average price 85.95. Morley Hodgins, Parkhill sold 14 steers average weight 1407, average price 85.07. Jim Scott, Lucan sold 22 heifers aver- age weight 1311, average price 84.53, sales to 91 purchased by Norwich Packers. Summary Tuesday: The fed steers and heifers sold on a steady market. Choice steers and heifers sold 88 to 93 sales to 106.25, second cut steers and heifers sold 83 to 87. The cows sold under pres- sure. Thursday: The veal sold under pressure with prices $2 to $3 lower. The lambs sold on a strong active trade with prices steady to last week. Friday: All weights and classes of stockers sold on a steady market. Steers There were 523 steers on offer. Sidney F. Bauman, St Clements consigned one gold steer weighing 1285 lbs which sold to Dominion Meat Packers for 106.25. His overall offering of 11 steers averaged 1284 lbs selling for an average price of 92.25. Six steers consigned by Amos B. Frey, Wallenstein averaged 1425 lbs which sold for an average price of 97.03 with his top four red steers averaging 1400 lbs selling for 98.50. Skinner Farms, Mitchell consigned one limo steer weighing 1445 lbs which sold to Norval Meat Packers for 90.50. Heifers There were 307 heifers on offer. Andy VanderVeen, Blyth consigned one char heifer weighing 1320 lbs which sold for 99.25. His overall offering of ten heifers aver- aged 1298 lbs selling for an average price of 85.18. Four limo heifers con- signed by Lyle Kinsmen, Kippen averaged 1003 lbs which sold for 94. David and Sandra Hanes, Troy consigned two limo heifers averaging 1200 lbs which sold to Highland Packers Ltd for 89. Cows There were 248 cows on offer. D1 & D2: 25-35 sales to 41.50; D3: 20-25; D4: 10- 20. Mike Henry, Brampton consigned one blonde cow weighing 1560 lbs which sold for 41.50. One sim cow consigned by Dave Noble, Glencairn weighed 1550 lbs selling for 40. John W. Brown, Walton consigned one gold cow weighing 1550 lbs which sold for 36.50. Bulls There were 19 bulls on offer selling 21.50 to 41 sales to 50. Ivan M. Martin, Lucknow consigned one char bull weighing 1895 lbs which sold for 50. One blonde bull consigned by Jeff Moffatt, Wingham weighed 2260 lbs which sold for 41. Veal There were 193 head of veal on offer. Beef: 105-115 sales to 120; Good Holstein: 80-85 with sales to 91; Medium Holstein: 60 to 70; Plain and Heavy Holstein: 40-55.
