Lucan Lions donation
Medway High School principal Murray Macdonald (left) accepts a cheque for
$7,500 from Lucan Lions president Jake Coulter May 28 at the Lucan Community
Centre. Coulter said the money was raised through general fundraising of the club
and Macdonald said the money would go to several different uses at the school,
including buying a piano for the music program as well as to the rugby team.

OPP had some assistance monitoring traffic over the
Victoria Day weekend. The black panther was sitting in
a parked cruiser on Bluewater highway for 12 hours.
Police say the highly visible car, with the stuffed animal
inside, was just enough to get traffic to slow down in
both directions. OPP believe their increased presence
over the holiday weekend was a major success. There
were 20 traffic complaints, 19 crashes involving minor
injuries and no fatalities. Officers issued 156 speeding
tickets and several other tickets for various violations.

There's a new "medical" term devised recently. It
is cyberchondriac. It is defined as a person who
looks for health information on the Internet.
About 51% of us are cyberchondriacs, but the
number doesn't appear to be increasing.
Men who use their laptop computers on their lap, run the risk of
raising the temperature of their scrotum, which could have an effect
on their ability to conceive a child. A combination of the heat from
the computer and sitting with thighs together results in an average
temperature elevation of 2.5 deg. C., which could affect sperm
production.
Back in 1897, heroin began to be marketed as a powerful
painkiller. At that time, morphine, another narcotic from the opium,
was already in use. Heroin was much stronger and found much
use as a powerful cough suppressant to help those with chronic
bronchitis, pneumonia and tuberculosis. It took about 20 years for
its powerful addictive potential was discovered.
Allergies are common at this time of year. If your allergies are
worse in April and May, it could be due to tree pollen. If allergies
flare up in May to mid-July, it's probably grass pollens that are the
culprit. Weed pollens can cause allergies from late August through
the fall.
