In total, nearly $19,000 was raised during the campaign, $6,000 short of the fundraising goal.Awards were handed out at the Exeter LionsYouth Centre. Pictured in top photo from left are league prize winners Mike Porter, Don and Margaret Watt, Carmel Sweeney and Robert Horner.Absent are Tony Bedard and Bev Cregan. POLICE BRIEF Motel window smashed EXETER — Out of town visitors, staying at the Ranch House Inn, got a surprise May 7. A brick came flying through the window of the room they had rented. Police say no suspects could be located in the parking lot after the incident took place. Parents to supervise fundraisers By Stew Slater SPECIAL TO TIIE T -A SEAFORTH — The best fundraisers in the Avon Maitland District School Board — those in Grade 4 and younger — will continue their door-to- door work, after princi- pals intervened on their behalf. In late April, Policy Committee members reviewed the board's fundraising policy, with the revisions brought forward for approval by the entire board May 10. The primary change involved a clause stating all students in Grade 4 and below required writ- ten consent from a guardian for participa- tion in "canvassing, sales or solicitation of pledges." According to Policy Committee chair Jenny Versteeg, who reported to fellow trustees on the POLICE BRIEF Driver on probation nabbed again HURON COUNTY — An OPP officer conducting radar on Dashwood Road in South Huron May 17, stopped a speeding vehicle. The maroon 1994 Ford Explorer was being operated by a prohibited driver. The driver was also breaching a recognizance because he had a female passenger with him, someone he wasn't supposed to have any contact with. Police say the driver was on pro- bation and was breaching a court order.
