Old time hymns return
EXETER — Old time
hymns are filling area
churches.
The South Huron
Ministerial Association,
picking up on an idea that
started in Calgary two
years ago, is sponsoring
monthly Hymn Tyme ser-
vices, with the next one
coming up at Exeter
Pentecostal Church May
29 at 6 p.m.
Pastor Bob Degraw said
the concept formed due to
a desire to have churches
return to traditional
gospel hymns. He said
many churches now play
contemporary music,
which doesn't include the
old hymns many church
goers are missing.
The ministerial held its
first Hymn Tyme at St.
Peter's Lutheran Church
in Zurich last month.
Despite being held on the
same weekend as a snow
New ministry comes to Exeter

TIMES -ADVOCATE STAFF
EXETER — A new min-
istry opens in Exeter
May 24, offering a place
for people to talk about
life, faith and God.
Belongers opens at 293
Main St., led by Pastor
David and Isabelle
Gagne.
David Gagne said
Belongers is a place
where people young and
old can gather and
develop relationships
together.
Still in the process of
getting everything ready
for the opening, Gagne
said Belongers will start
opening for a daily coffee
break Monday to Friday
from noon until 2 p.m.
And if you're walking
past Belongers and
notice people inside dur-
ing other times, you're
invited to stop in.
Gagne said Belongers
isn't competing with
local churches. He said
Belongers wants to reach
out to those who would-
n't normally go to church
and to those who do
attend church on
Sundays, but want to be
involved during the week

as well.
Once Belongers is
established, Gagne said
programs will be devel-
oped to fit the needs of
what people want. He
described it as an
"organic ministry"
designed to meet peo-
ple's spiritual and practi-
cal needs.
"We want to reach peo-
ple's hearts and be there
for them," he said. "If
people come in with a
frown, we want them to
leave with a smile."
There are no fees asso-
ciated with attending
Belongers. Gagne said it
will be funded through
donations.
Gagne is a licensed
minister with Open Bible
Faith Fellowship.
Belongers' parent
church is Niagara
Celebration Church.
