By Pat Bolen TIMES -ADVOCATE STAFF MONKTON — The Forest City Green team, with South Huron District High School student Reid Halpenny, fell just short at the Canadian Championships May 6,7 and 8. Forest City finished first in its pool to advance to the quarterfinal against Calgary, but were defeated in three games. Although disappointed to lose in the quarterfinals, Reid said the tournament was "amazing," with a lot of talent. The Green team defeated teams from Hampton and Brandon in pool play with a loss at the hands of Halifax. Forest City won all three matches in the power pool to skip the pre -quarter final and advance to face Calgary. Despite the loss, Reid said the matches were close against Calgary and could have gone either way. Forest City will have only four players returning next season and the coach is deciding whether he will be back, Reid said he plans to be back playing with the team and is looking forward to next year, and will be working on his strength during the summer. "We played our best and couldn't ask much more," said Reid.
