As I TYPE THIS IN THE WEATHER IS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL
AND WE ALL GET IN THE MOOD TO BBQ! THE NEXT FEW
WEEKS I WILL BE PUTTING IN A VARIETY OF MARINADES TO
BE USED WITH THE BBQ IN MIND. AT HOME WE USE THE
BBQ A LOT AS I FIND IT QUICK, EASY TO CLEAN UP AND
GENERALLY A HIT WITH A VARIETY OF PEOPLE. To ME THAT
MAKES MEAL PREPARATION MORE FUN. ENJOY THIS
WONDERFUL MARINADE WITH CHICKEN, BEEF OR PORK.
TERIYAKI MARINADE
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 cup soy sauce
5$
3 tbsp brown sugar 3 mashed garlic cloves
1 tbsp grated ginger root (or 1 tsp dried ginger)
2 tbsp sherry (or 2 tbsp red wine vinegar)
Mix ingredients together and set aside a small bit of marinade
to baste the meat in the last minutes of BBQing. Put the
remaining marinade in a large Ziploc bag with the meat of
your choice and marinate at least 4 hours or overnight and in
the refrigerator. Remove meat and BBQ. WOW.

The first antibiotic was introduced in China in
500 B.C. It consisted of the mouldy curd of soy
beans and was used to treat carbuncles and
boils. It took another couple thousand years
before someone else discovered the link
between mould and the killing of bacteria. It resulted in the
discovery of penicillin.
Some people wear magnetic bracelets to help their pain from
osteoarthritis. It's difficult to prove whether they really help or not
but a recent study concluded that these bracelets were "clinically
useful". Having said that, there was still the suspicion that the
bracelet had a placebo effect. However, if it works, who cares?
The top ten drugs prescribed in 2004 included drugs to treat high
cholesterol (Lipitor), a thyroid drug (Synthroid), heart and blood
pressure drugs (Altace and Norvasc), and a pain reliever, Tylenol
#3. Other drug groups in the top ten include a stomach acid
reducer, a bronchodilator and stroke preventer (ASA).
Remember when we were told not to drink milk when we had a
cold? It was supposed to cause an increase in mucus production.
In Australia, researchers proved this to be a myth. There was no
increase in mucus secretions in the milk -drinkers compared to the
non -milk drinkers.
