Anglers of all ages were trying to catch the big one
that didn't get away during the 2Ist annual fishing
derby at the Morrison Dam Reservoir last Saturday.
In the 16 and under category Sara Sicilia (left)
clinched the top spot with her rainbow trout that
was almost 17" long. Kelly Wakem (beside Sicilia)
placed second and Adam Root came in third. In the
17 and over category, Sean Laird (right) took first
place with his 16.5" trout. Rhma Abufayad (not
shown) placed second and Nathan Wales (behind
Laird) came in third. The derby is sponsored by the
Exeter Lion's Club and the Ausable Bayfield
Conservation Foundation. (photo/Stephanie Mandziuk)

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR DIFFERENT VEGETABLES AND WAYS
TO SPRUCE UP A PORKCHOP TRY THE FOLLOWING RED
CABBAGE. I LOVE TO SERVE THIS UP AS A PRETTY
ADDITIONAL VEGETABLE AND IT IS EASY TO PREPARE. THE
KEY IS GETTING THE ONION AND APPLE THINLY CHOPPED
AND THE CABBAGE JUST TENDER CRISP. ENJOY.
RED CABBAGE WITH APPLE
I small finely shredded red cabbage about 4 cup packed
3 tbsp, butter or margarine
2 cooking apples pared and
I small onion thinly sliced
I /4 cup water
shake of ground cloves
2 tsp vinegar
2 tsp sugar
In a Targe fry pan melt butter and add the cabbage -cooking
for about 5 minutes. Stir in apple, onion, water, cloves, vinegar
and sugar and when well mixed, cover, reduce heat and cook
gently about 15-20 minutes stirring every 5 minutes. Serve
warm. Very good with pork or sausages done on the BBQ!

EXETER — And Bingo
was his name -o.
The Exeter Lion's Club
has been broadcasting TV
Bingo for about 15 years
now.
"We've built up a good
following," said John
Hanson, the chair of TV
Bingo for the Lion's Club.
Every Monday from 7 p.m.
to around 8 p.m., Bingo
broadcasts five games
from ETM studios. The
first four are worth $100,
and the final — given for a
full card — is $400. The
grand prize goes up $50
every week until some-
body wins it.
"We're very apprecia-
tive of the community,"
said Hanson.
Last year the Lion's
Club paid out $25,700 in
prize money and $11,200
to the community.
A sheet of three tickets
costs $2, and the proceeds
go toward local sports,
school activities and other
community causes. They
can be found at Stedmans

King's Village Market,
Exeter Variety, Halls
General Store, Jordy's,

LONDON — There's a
new boss in charge of
the Huron OPP force
and several others
across midwestern and
southwestern Ontario.
Chief Superintendent
William Dennis has
been named
Commander of the
Western Region OPP.
Dennis was promoted
March 30 following the
retirement of Chief
Superintendent Tony
Parkin.
Dennis began his
career as a constable in
the Ridgetown,
Blenheim and Chatham
detachments.
He has held several
positions and was
responsible for co-ordi-
nating and planning the
1989 and 1991
International Plowing
Matches.
In June 2000 he trans-
ferred to the Western
Region OPP headquar-
ters from the Essex OPP
detachment.
Dennis has been
involved in many high-
profile incidents during
his career. In 1999 he
was the site manager
overseeing the manage-
ment of the multi -
agency response to the
deadly crash on the 401
near Windsor. He also
co-ordinated OPP activi-
ty during World Youth
Day.
Dennis says his expec-
tations for all OPP offi-
cers under his com-
mand are simple:
"Respect, equality,
accountability and pro-
fessionalism."

Plan H6-3-346 Country Style A down-home, country style defines this beguiling three-bedroom family plan. The large front veranda adds an inviting
touch to the entrance; with all-weather furniture, it becomes a versatile outdoor room. Inside, an open foyer leads to all the main living areas. A gas
fireplace warms the expansive great room, which also boasts double doors leading to the side veranda. The adjoining dining room has plenty of room for
a formal table and is highlighted by corner windows that face the back garden. The U-shaped kitchen features generous counter space, an eating bar
and a large pantry. The double sinks are placed in front of a window overlooking the back garden. The breakfast area also has a garden view. A pocket
door on the opposite side of this space leads to a large laundry room with a coat closet and a door to the double garage. A centrally-placed powder room
can be accessed both from the laundry room and the main hallway. The addition of a shower enables the den (located at the front of the house) to be
used as a guest bedroom if desired. Upstairs, there are three bedrooms and views from the landing to the foyer below. The charming master suite has
sloped ceilings and a deep bay window. Its five -piece ensuite bathroom includes a double vanity, a soaker tub and a corner shower. The two secondary
bedrooms (one with a dormer window) share another four -piece bathroom. The double garage includes a work -bench and has doors to both the
backyard and the front drive. Decorative side windows add natural light to the garage and
contribute to the street appeal of this home on a corner lot. With 2,054 square feet of finished
living space, this home measures 67 feet, 4 inches wide and 40 feet, 6 inches deep. Plans include
an unfinished basement. Plans for design H6-3-346 are available for $606 (set of 5), $691(set of
8) and $745 for a super set of 10. B.C. residents add 7 % Prov. Sales Tax. Also add $20.00 for
Priority charge within B.C. or $40.00 outside of B.C. Please add 7% G.S.T. or 15% H.S.T. (where
applicable) to both the plan price and Priority charges. The NEW 37th Edition of the Home Plan
Catalogue containing over 300 plans is available for $13.50 (includes taxes, postage and
handling). Make all cheques and money orders payable to "Home Plan of the Week" and mail to:
