The play is a comedy set in Huron County at Huron Heights High School in 2047 and 2048. Directing the play is SHDHS teacher Glenda Burrell who also wrote the script from scratch. Burrell said she wanted to give the students a chance for a big theatrical experience at least once during their high school years. Not wanting to redo plays that had been done many times before, Burrell said she wanted to do something Canadian but there just wasn't any- thing big. It has been almost a full year of work for Burrell who started writing in June and said there have probably been 10 drafts. Auditions started in late October and the cast has been rehearsing twice a week since November. Looking for ideas for the play, Burrell said she started thinking about "what this place would look like in 50 years," and it developed from there. According to Burrell, she wanted the show light and a comedy. Even after directing 17 plays at the school, she said "Return to Eden" has been the biggest chal- lenge because of the size of the cast. The play is filled with local references as well as singing and dancing from the students who had a lot of talent said Burrell. It is the last production from Burrell who is retiring this year. She added she would like to see more Canadian theatre promoted. "We have incredible talent," she said. "Return to Eden" will be performed May 4, 5 and 6 at 7:30 p.m. at SHDHS. Tickets are available for $6 each at Village Vines Florists or the main office at SHDHS. Actors at South Huron District High School will dis- play their talent this week in the performance of "Return to Eden" at SHDHS which is set in a future Huron County high school.
