Blue Water Rest Home recognizes volunteers

Donation awareness is topic at CWL meeting

ZURICH CORRESPONDENT
ZURICH - Sarah Walker, daughter of
Mary and Hub Thiel, RR 3, Zurich, has
now completed her third year of
nursing. She left April 27 to spend a
month in Kenya with another girl from
Guelph. They will be working in a
medical centre through a volunteer
program.
In spite of the snow storm and no
hydro on the weekend, events carried
on just the same.
Blessing Store celebrated their 20th
anniversary in business with an Open
House.
Family members, rela-
tives and friends helped
Ursula Regier celebrate
her 80th birthday on Saturday at the
Township of Hay Hall in Zurich. After
the Open House a generator was used
to help finish up the party.
Sunday was a busy day for bridal
showers. A brunch was held at the
home of Donna Hoffman in Dashwood
for daughter Kelly who is being mar-
ried to Ryan Gilmore in June.
A bridal shower was held for
Roxanne Regier Sunday, April 24 at
the home of her parents Evelyn and
Pat Regier of RR 3 Zurich with rela-
tives, family members and friends

attending. Roxanne and Andrew
McClenaghan are being married in
June.
Welcome home to Michael and
Yvonne Hartman, near Bayfield. They
spent the winter months in Florida.
A surprise 40th Anniversary family
get together and Sunday brunch was
held at Hessenland in honor of Lennis
and Marlene Bedard of Woodstock, fol-
lowed by a social at the home of her
sister, Lori Masse.
The St. Peter's Lutheran Church Old
Time Hymn Song with the
Goshenaires, on Sunday evening was
well attended. There are several
churches in Zurich and Exeter area
planning to host more of
these events in the near
future.
The Zurich Cubs and leaders spent
last Tuesday night's meeting at the
craft shop of Bob Krueger making fish-
ing poles. They are going to Morrison
Dam to try the poles out.

which is being presented by the St.
Joseph and Area Historical Society.
Happy birthday to Melissa Francis of
Lucan who celebrated her birthday on
April 25. Also to Marion Vanderhoek of
RR 3 Zurich, who was 70 on April 26.

Rummage Sal

It was a lovely evening at the
Mennonite Church Fellowship Hall last
week when a Volunteer Appreciation
get together was hosted by the staff
and residents of Blue Water Rest Home
arranged by Patty Groot. The tables
were decorated with pots of flowers.
Everyone enjoyed the program and
cheese cake.
Little Allison Jane Millar, daughter of
Craig and Lisa of Hensall was baptized
recently at St. Boniface Church.
Father Julius Kujur from Jesu
Ashram Hospital in Darjeeling India is
coming to St. Boniface Parish to speak
on Sunday, May 15 at 9 a.m. Mass fol-
lowed by a social in the parish hall.
Father Julius has taken over the mis-
sion work of Brother Bob Mittleholtz.
Exeter South Huron District High
School Drama Club is presenting a
musical play "Return to Eden 2048"
on May 4, 5, and 6. Tickets are avail-
able now.
Janet Soudant celebrated her birth-
day on April 19.
Blue water Rest Home Ladies
Auxiliary is having their next meeting
in the auditorium on Tuesday, May 3
with a program at 6:30 p.m. Come out
and bring a friend.
Huron Ridge Acres Spring Open
House is Saturday, April 30, 8:30 a.m.
to 5 p.m. and Sunday, May 1, 1 to 5
p.m.
Little Nicole Marie Regier, daughter
of Bryan and Carol Ann was baptized
recently at St. Boniface Church.
Nine members of the Zurich Golden
Agers attended the U.S.C.O. Zone 8
Rally in Varna at the complex on April
21. They were among 103 people to
hear guest speaker M.P. Paul Steckle.
Entertainment and door prizes were
enjoyed.

ners were: Rob Watson of RR 1
Dashwood $300; Dan Durdin of
Dashwood $1,000; Dan Brannon
$2,000.

St. Boniface Catholic Women's
League met on Tuesday, April 19 from
6:30 to 7:30 pm. with 18 members
attending. Following the meeting they
were invited to the Lutheran Church to
hear Carol Erb speak of her experience
living in Afghanistan.
President Joan Regier read the corre-
spondence with thank you letters from
the Smith Family, Esk-Omi Missions,
Youth Group and Epilepsy, for our
donations. Catholic Women's League
are invited to Immaculate Heart of
Mary in Grand Bend on May 3 to hear
Janet Brady speak on Organ Donation
Awareness at 7:30 p.m. following 7
p.m. Mass.
Cecilia Farwell sent out 17 First
Communion Cards to the Grade two
children as well as other get well, sym-
pathy and Baptismal cards.
Quilt tickets will be ready for our
next meeting on May 17 with the group
of Deb Penning, Angela Watson and
Evelyn Regier in charge.
The Knights of Columbus is holding
the Annual Pancake Breakfast in the
parish hall on Sunday, May 8 for
Mothers Day after the 9 a.m. Mass.
The Zurich Agricultural Society met
at the Township Hall on April 21 to
make plans for the Fair in July, 2005.
The theme being "Clownin Around".
Start thinking about ways to dress up
for the parade, floats, fun games and
things for the children with clowns and
balloons.
The committees were working on
various projects and a band for the
Elimination Draw put on by the Lions
Club. A cheque for $500 was received
from the Bean Festival Committee.
Help is needed in August to run the
information booth. Heather Klopp is
taking names for volunteers.

THAMES ROAD - Owing to the storm
and power outage there was no church
service at which the Oddfellows and
Rebekahs service was to have taken
place.
Quite a number of rela-
tives attended the funeral
of the late Bob Waters on
Monday. Sympathy is extended to the
Borland family. Bob was the husband of
Lill (Borland) Waters.
Quite a number of people from this area
attended the visitation for the late Jean
Mair at the Westview Funeral Home,

London on Friday. Sympathy is extended
to her daughter Joanne Fordham, family
and relatives.
