Rugby teams host St.Anne's
EXETER — The South
Huron girls rugby team
and the senior boys team
travelled to Kincardine
for exhibition games
April 20.
Despite a hot day, both
teams played hard, with
the girls losing 20-0 to a
good Kincardine team.
Julie Prout, Anne
Gregus, Holly Puchniak
and Amber Caldwell
played particularly well,
according to coach Terry
O'Rourke.
Excellent first half
The senior boys played
an excellent first half
going up 17-0 on tries by
Sean Ellison and Eric
Corman.
Jordan Darling kicked
two conversions.
The heat and injuries
led to Kincardine scoring
10 second half points
and the game ended in a
17-17 tie.
Justin Knee, Mitch
Iredale, Adam Hayter
and Larry Northover also
played particularly well
in the backs and Justin
Cann played strong in
the forwards.
South Huron hosted St.
Anne's April 21 with the
senior boys losing 17-5
with Darling scoring the
try for the Panthers.
A good effort
The team put forth a
good effort however and
recognize the areas they
need to improve, said
O'Rourke.
The girls team also put
forth a good effort con-
sidering there are many
new players on the team.
The Panthers lost 24-5
with Caitlin Love scoring
the try.
Prout, Karen Donney
Sonya Shantz, Tanya
Stuckless, Ashley Roger
and Miranda Mattucci
also played well on the
day.
The junior boys defeat-
ed St. Anne's 29-0 with
an excellent overall
effort, with many new
players.
Scoring tries were Mac
Christie, Tim Bilcke,
Shawn Morgan, Scott
Varley and Brett
Hackett. Dave Muller
kicked two conversions
with Brent Regier and
Jamie Hodge also play-
ing well.
All in all a good day of
rugby for all three teams
and well done from
O'Rourke.
