CREDITON - The annual meeting of the Crediton
Women's Institute was held April 13 at the home of
Rosemary Neeb with 13 members in attendance and
president Anne Cottel in charge of the business meet-
ing.
The roll call was "Share a momento or story of some-
thing passed down to you from your ancestors."
Annual reports were given and members are reminded
to send them on to the area before May 1.
President Anne gave the board meeting highlights
and the new rally information was handed out with
further discussions to be held at the September meet-
ing.
An upcoming event to note is the Huron South
District annual meeting May 19 at the Crediton Hall.
The next meeting for the Crediton Institute will be May
25 as all members and spouses or friends go on the
annual Mystery Tour. Lois Hodgins is the leader for
that night.
Membership fees were set and Dolores Shapton
presided for the installation of officers of the Crediton
Institute for 2005-2006.

President Anne presented the group's newest mem-
ber Christina Vanhie with her membership pin. Alma
Davey presented president Anne with gifts of apprecia-
tion for being president for the past three years.
Rosemary Neeb chaired the program and the motto
was "Be careful when you shake the family tree, you
never know what may fall out." She commented on the
Reuben R. Sallows Digital Library in Goderich and
showed pictures available on the Internet and told of
sites to record family histories and concluded with a
reading "Common Sense." Noella read three fitting sto-
ries, "Grandma's Apron, Brown stockings" and "The
old gas station." Members made a Grandmother's soap
basket and delicious lunch was served by Rosemary
and Noella.
Church News
At Sunday morning's regular service at Zion United
Church in Crediton, Good Shepherd sunday was recog-
nized with Stephen township sheep farmer Peter
Dearing bringing a small lamb to the delight of the
large group of children.
The final youth group meeting of the year will be held
Wed., April 20 at 4 p.m. with a trip to the Zurich
Bowling Lanes.
Bible study on the Gospel of John continues this
Friday morning at 10 a.m. preceded a half hour earlier
by a walk, weather permitting.
The current confirmation class is holding a retreat at
Camp Bimini Fri., April 29 and Sat., April 30. For fur-
ther information contact Rev. Sheila Macgregor at 235-
0613.
On Sat., May 7 ladies are reminded to join in on a
Pampered Chef luncheon to help whip Breast Cancer.
Registration begins at 11 a.m. with luncheon an hour
later. Naturopath Andrea Gingerich will be speaking
and there will be a healthy food demonstration. Please
contact Dianne Finkbeiner at 238-2670 for more infor-
mation and tickets.
The annual anniversary of Zion Church will be
observed at 10 a.m. on Sun., May 15 with former pas-
tor Rev. Ed Laksmanis as the guest speaker.
Sunday School will be hosting their Spring Soup and
Sandwich Luncheon on Sun., April 24 beginning at 11
a.m. to 1 p.m. Enjoy soup, sandwich and dessert for
$5. For tickets call Kristina at 234-6128 or Ruth at
234-6035. Tickets may be purchased at the door.
Frozen food orders should be submitted to the Sunday
school the same day.

HENSALL - Queensway retirement residence men's
club held an information night about the Goderich Salt
Mine Thurs., April 14 at 7 p.m. Presenters, Grant
McGregor and Mark Consitt showed a video and brought
many interesting artifacts associated with the salt mine.
Admission to this event was an item for the Exeter Food
Bank. The Men's Club was pleased to have several boxes
of canned and non-perishable items for pick up by the
food bank.

employees were honoured at Queensway Nursing &
Retirement Residence for 30 years of service. Elaine
Stebbins RPN works in Queensway nursing department
and Sandra Consitt, cook is employed in the dietary
department. Both women have shown commitment and
dedication to the residents of Queensway over the years
and have seen and adapted to many changes in long
term care. Each was presented with a beautiful lead
crystal vase and a dozen roses.
Friendship Friday
Harvey Smith played guitar, Harold Mills the accor-
dion, Don Finkbeiner, piano and Devon Martene, his vio-
lin, when they entertained at Friendship Friday, in the
retirement residence lounge Friday evening April 15.
Their audience responded with singing and applause as
the hour of entertainment went all too quickly.
Volunteer, Edna Deitz was on hand to help serve
refreshments.
Pastor Elly Van Bergen of Varna and Goshen United
Churches led worship at Queensway Tues., April 12 with
Belva Fuss as volunteer pianist. Residents appreciated
Van Bergen's service especially as she delivered it on
short notice when the scheduled minister was ill. Pastor
Van Bergen provides volunteer pastoral care at
Queensway each Tuesday to residents desiring it.
Residents benefited from massage with Lori Burt RMT
on Monday and music with trained music therapist Lisa
Stewart on Friday. Throughout the week, bingo, exercis-
es, games and manicures kept residents busy.

Bullying forum planned in Lucan

LUCAN — Bullying is the focus of an open forum at
Lucan Public School May 17.
Principal Patti Baker says it's a joint presentation of
her school's parent advisory council, Biddulph Central
and St. Patrick school.
Susan Dale, a learning coordinator for safe schools
with the Thames Valley District School Board, is the
speaker.
The community presentation gets underway at 7:00
p.m. in the gymnasium of Lucan Public School.
