The pickup rear-ended a 2002 GMC van forcing it onto Highway 23, and causing it to collide with a southbound 1996 Ford, which caused the Ford to lose control and hit a 1995 Chrysler car that was stopped at the stop sign on the west side of Hwy 23. After the collision, the 2005 pickup fled the scene travelling at high rates of speed, followed by wit- nesses to the event. The witnesses were communi- cating the events with police. The pickup ended up going into a ditch area, and the male driver fled out of the truck through the passenger side, and went into a wooded area. Police called out the Emergency Response Team and the Canine Unit of the OPP, and Michael Hooper, 34 of London was arrested. Police conducted further testing, and found that the male was over three times the legal limit of .80 mgs of alcohol.
