Given that this new facility, located on the south bank of the Ottawa River, on the LeBreton Flats, is dedicated to the heroic deeds of Canada's war veterans, I would encourage all Canadians to visit the museum when next in our nation's capital. For more than a century, this country's armed ser- vices have kept us safe at home and abroad. Through world wars, regional conflicts, severe weather patterns and unthinkable natural disasters, the brave men and women of our military have shaped the history of Canada and have been a source of constant pride and admiration for all of our citizens. I am proud to say that the new Canadian War Museum is a worthy tribute to the many national heroes that have donned the uni- form and offered their lives at the 4\ altar of freedom. It is with this in mind that the Canadian War Museum will offi- cially open its doors on Sun., May 8, 2005. The opening marks the 60th anniversary of VE Day at the end of WWII. Limited reserved seating has been set aside for veterans (plus one guest). Interested veter- ans are asked to confirm their attendance for the national commemorative and opening ceremonies, as well as for a special Veterans Affairs lunch, so that suf- ficient seating can be arranged. To register, veterans should call 1-866-652-9484. If you have any questions, or plan to attend the open- ing, I would invite you to call my Goderich office at (519) 524-6938 or 1-800-465-1726. I would encourage veterans from across Huron -Bruce to consider taking part in this important national event but, moreover, I would urge everyone, young and old alike, to visit this museum; you will be glad you did. The job description is vast, from doctors, to entrepreneurs, to labour- ers. The sector that I am most familiar with is the supply of labour. There is not a labour shortage. We can do it. Let's pay a living wage that allows for the enjoy- ment of life to locals to do local work. Ontarian's to do Ontario's work and Canadians to do Canada's work. Providing Canadians with these jobs returns i EI, CPP and substan- tially more Income tax. Spending in our commu- nity will also become sig- nificantly higher benefit- ing all of us. Expansion in the Valley, a hospital, a motel expansion, a new condo- minium development on Front St, the list goes on. It's also important to know how many doses are in each container so you know when it's empty. If a canister contains 200 doses and you use 8 puffs a day, it should last approximately 25 days. Knowing this will avoid your using an empty inhaler. A sneaker -type shoe is a good choice for the elderly. Sneakers may not look great but they certainly can reduce the risk of falling. Keeping our minds active will help maintain brain functions as we get older. In fact elderly persons who are bilingual seemed to suffer significantly less from cognitive decline than those who speak only one language. In 1935, a generation of wonder drugs began with the introduction of Prontosil, the first sulfa drug. This drug was effective against specific bacteria and grandchildren of this drug are still in use today. Don't borrow prescription drugs from others or share yours. No matter how similar your illnesses are, your friend's drugs may react adversely on you or cause interactions with drugs you are taking.
