LUNCH BOOTH Proprietors: Laird & Ruby Finlayson 263-6009 Auctioneer: Bob Heywood (519) 235-0874 www.bobheywoodauctions.com Year-end report for Zurich WI By P. Hiemrick ZURICH - Zurich Women's Institute meet- ings are held on the first Monday of every month. The group usually has lunch at the local restau- rant. On other Mondays, members and their friends gather at the restaurant for coffee and a chat. At the 2004 April meet- ing, Zurich WI hosted the birthday party at the rest home. A group played music and several humor- ous readings were given. In May we were hosts for the District Annual and also celebrated our 90th anniversary. A short history of the branch was read and an anniversary cake was served to mem- bers of the five branches who were attending. Several members went on a bus trip to Erland Lee and Adelaide Hunter Hoodless homesteads. They gave a report on what they heard and saw that day. At other meetings we had discussions such as "what do you think about taking a year off before going to university?" There have been jokes, riddles, poems and arti- cles read which pertain to the theme of the month. At one meeting, the roll call was answered by answering the question "how long have you been an institute member?" At Easter some childhood memories were shared. At Christmas we always have a turkey dinner. Instead of exchanging gifts, we bring toys or items of clothing for the Christmas Bureau. We always do well at our tea room, held in the township hall during the Bean Festival in August. Volunteering at the BWRH by taking the tuck cart from room to room once a week has been enjoyable for institute members, as well as for the residents. Our institute is few in number and unfortunately we lost two members this year. We do our best for Home and Country and enjoy the fellowship whenever we meet. 28 Auction Sale 28 Auction Sale CLEARING AUCTION SALE 5 tractors, farm machinery, stone picker, gravity wagons, 3 -wheel ATV, riding lawnmower, etc. to be held 1/2 mile north of Exeter at farm #71479 London Rd. for J.&D.
