UCW members have busy week

Granton community
extends sympathy to Bill
Hudson, RR 3 Granton,
and family in the death of
wife and mother Carole
Hudson following a car
accident Wed., April 6.
A group from
Clandeboye
Women's
Institute
attended the 60th
anniversary celebration of
Grand Bend WI on Thurs.,
April 7. The education
fair/luncheon was held at
the Grand Bend Legion
and featured displays of
tatting, quilting, knitting,
crochet, cross stitch,
embroidery and rug hook-
ing.
UCW
Granton -Wesley UCW
Unit 1 met at noon on
Thurs., April 7 for lunch
at the home of Norah
Wissel with Cathie
Westman and Becky
Kindree assisting.
President Doreen
McRobert opened the
meeting which followed
with a meditation, "Fill My
Cup, Lord." Several
upcoming events were
announced and discussed
including the General
UCW at the church on
April 12 with Unit 1 in
charge of program.
Carolyne Walden pre-
sented the program which
involved two skits from
Message in a Minute.
Madeline Hardie had a
game called Jeopardy,
which as usual made
everyone really think as
they enjoyed an afternoon
of fun and fellowship.
UCW Unit 2 met at the
church on Thursday

Marion Gatt led the busi-
ness when plans were
finalized for the Welcome
to Spring Barbecue follow-
ing the church service on
Sun., April 10.
UCW Unit 3 met at
Margaret Bryan's home
on Tuesday evening, April
5 with 16 members and
three guests
present.
President
Irene Richardson opened
the meeting with a read-
ing, "Two Coins - Real and
Counterfeit."
Jean Bryan and April
Bryan led the devotional
with the theme "Weaving
Our Lives." Psalm 139 (A
Psalm of Praise) was read
by April.
Margaret Bryan intro-
duced the guest speakers,
12 -year-old Taylor Jones
and her travelling com-
panion Dianne Blake who
had been to London,
England and Warsaw,
Poland to visit Blake's
daughter Jenny. Jones
gave the highlights of their
trip and shared her
impressions and experi-
ences with pictures and
souvenirs.
Richardson led the busi-
ness and closed the meet-
ing with the benediction
and prayer. Refreshments
were served by April and
hostess Bryan.
At the Granton -Wesley
United Church on Sun.,
April 10, Lay Pastor Val
Hodgins entitled the mes-
sage "Recognizing Jesus."
The lessons were from
Acts 2 and Luke 24. Colin
Burford lit the Christ can-
dle.
The ministry of music
was a solo, "All in the
April's Evening" by Cindy
