It was no April Fool's joke as students donned outrageous hats at Exeter Public
school to raise $500 for Jesse's Journey and Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. In
order to wear a hat all day long, participating staff and students had to donate $2
to the cause. In the front row, left to right, are: Spencer Parkinson, Michelle Keys,
Robyn Brand, Denver Homuth, Kaz Budny, Cheyenne Duskey and Adrian
Timmermans. In the middle row, starting at left, are: Angela VanDerLey, Emily

Hurondale WI attends tea party

EXETER — On Wed.,
March 30, 13 members
of Hurondale
Women's
Institute (WI)
and three
guests, donned
spring hats and
gloves, and attended a
traditional afternoon tea
party at the home of Fern
Dougall. After a lovely
tea lunch, the tea leaves
were read by Dougall,
accompanied by a lot of
laughs. Dougall also gave
a thorough history of tea.
Following the social
time, the business meet-
ing was open by presi-
dent Marion Frayne with
the Institute Ode and the
Mary Stewart Collect.
The roll call was
answered by the mem-
bers and guests telling
the origin of the cup and
saucer they brought for
show and tell.
The guests were intro-
duced and district presi-
dent Joan Smith and sec-
retary Donna Lovie were
given a gift of potted
spring tulips.
The invitation
from Grand
Bend WI to
attend their edu-
cation event April 7
was discussed as well as
their Grand River Cruise
on June 16. The board
meeting is April 4 and
the district annual is May
19 with Crediton as
hosts. The Hurondale
annual bake sale will be
held Thurs., July 14 dur-
ing the Exeter sidewalk
sales.
The business being con-
cluded, the programme
was turned over to
Lorraine Alexander's
group and she gave out
some interesting facts on
tea. Laura Sillery also
gave a reading and then
Marilyn Pym demonstrat-
ed some fancy napkin
folding techniques. Tea
was served along with
sweets to end the after-
noon.
The next meeting will
be the annual meeting at
Alexander's Wed., April
27.

NOTICE OF STUDY COMMENCEMENT
The County of Huron has initiated the repair of a number of county bridges. The scope of the
repairs will be defined during the course of the project. The project is being planned under
Schedule B of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment.
The bridges being studied include the following:
1) Bannockburn Bridge, Bannockburn River, County Road 3, 2.2km east of Varna,
Municipality of Bluewater, Geographic Township of Stanley, Concession BRN-BRS, Lot 24
