TIMES -ADVOCATE STAFF
EXETER — VON Canada has been
awarded $300,000 over three years by
Health Canada to review its nursing
shortage.
The money will be used to examine the
work environment for home and com-
munity care nurses as well as volunteer
service providers.
The project will identify barriers in the
home and community health care set-
tings.
The goal is to develop strategies and
promote practices that will lead to
healthy work environments for everyone
including clients, health workers and
organziations.
Lynn Bessey, chair of VON Canada,
says, "This project is timely considering
the current shortage of health care
providers and signals VON's strong com-
mitment to the health and safety of our
clients, nurses and volunteers."
