30 Exeter Times–Advocate Wednesday, March 23, 2005 Announcements Good Friday, Easter services planned By Muriel Lewis GRANTON CORRESPONDENT GRANTON — A num- ber from the Granton area attended the St. Patrick's Day roast beef dinner Thurs., March 17 at the Lucan Community Centre catered by Barry Hodgins. Proceeds were for the main hall kitchen remodeling project. The St. Marys minis- terial Lenten service and luncheon was held at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church at noon Wed., March 16. Rev. Fr. Ross Bartley gave the meditation, after the Scripture was read by Larry Lewis, based on Jesus' con- demnation in front of Pilate. At the Granton Wesley United Church on Palm Sunday, March 20, Lay Pastor Val Hodgins led the service and the cel- ebration of Holy Communion. Catherine Dodds lit the Christ candle and Blake Foran lit the six Lenten can- dles. The lesson on the story of Palm Sunday was read from Matthew 21 which was enacted by the youth group. The Lenten luncheon for the Lucan area community of churches is to be held at Granton -Wesley United Church at noon on Wed., March 23. The Good Friday ser- vice on March 25 is at 7:30 p.m. On Sun., March 27 Easter break- fast is 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., followed by Easter worship service at 10 a.m. At St. Paul's Anglican Church in Kirkton on Sun., March 20, Rev. Dalice Sim celebrated the Holy Eucharist. The service was opened with the Liturgy of the Palms. The lessons from Isaiah 50 and Philippians 2 were read by Becky Hawkins. Christine Downey was the narrator for the reading of the Passion according to St. Matthew which was portrayed with others taking part.
