Lucan Ilderton Jets eliminated from 'AA' side

LUCAN — It was another one goal decision for the
Lucan Ilderton Jets Friday night in Durham as they lost
their second straight overtime game to the Thundercats,
to be eliminated from the 'AA' side of the playoffs.
Jets general manager Rob Andrews said the Jets had
the game under control with a 2-1 lead after the second
period but took a four minute spearing penalty in the
third.
Durham fired two goals on the ensuing power play to
take the lead.
But the Jets weren't done, pulling the goalie in the last
minute and scoring with 38 seconds left to force another
overtime.
Andrews said the team came out strong in the extra
frame, but missed a couple of chances.
With Durham taking a penalty, it looked like the Jets
had the chance to send the series back to Lucan, until
Durham intercepted a pass at their own blueline, going
in to score the winner on Jets goalie Marc Williams.
Scoring for the Jets were Jason Wilson, Mark Phillips
and Mike Vandeven.
The Jets will be starting on the 'A' side playoffs at
home Saturday night, but are waiting to see if they will
be playing Goderich or Wingham.
Despite being eliminated from the 'AA' side, Andrews
it was still an opportunity to be playing this time of
year.
"It's been a great year, regardless of what
happens...nobody is disappointed in how things have
gone. We're still one of the most successful first year
teams to ever come into the league.
"This is the time of year you start to build on for next
year. And you see which guys really want to come back
and which guys maybe won't be back...it will definitely
be a motivating thing that will need to be done to keep
going here."

On average, each Canadian produces five tonnes of
greenhouse gases a year. Driving, heating and cooling our homes,
using appliances ... almost anything we do that uses fossil fuels for
energy also creates greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. And these
emissions are causing our climate to change.
Take the One -Tonne Challenge — reduce your energy use and
your GHG emissions by 20%, or one tonne. You'll save money,
